As a Presbyterian minister we follow something called a lectionary which is basically a big calendar of daily scriptures that provides churches with daily readings that assures we get a full taste off the bible over the course of 3 years, not just get stuck on one book & skip the scriptures that m are us uncomfortable.
Well Today is one of my favorites from the gospel of Matthew, ch 13.

Its a series of parables that compare heaven to various worldly things...afterall, don't we regularly pray to live on Earth as in Heaven?
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed
The kingdom of God is like yeast.
The kingdom of God is like hidden treasure.
The kingdom of God is like a fine pearl.
The kingdom of God is like a fishing net...

For us the kingdom of heaven is like a southerly Santa Cruz Seabreeze during sunset on the Montery Bay.

The kingdom of heaven isn't "like" any of these things, it IS all these things because we are living eternity in the present, if you chose to see it!

Exciting opportunity for the adventurists!! on the weekend of August 1st-2nd we were asked to voyage up to the sf bay for the annual Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors regatta and that means we'll be sailing up the coast with an opportunity for a few stowaway sheep! We started this evening's Salty Sheep Santa Cruz weekly sobriety sail by pausing to recite the commonly parroted but rarely put to practice Lords prayer then lost ourselves to the experience of earth as it is in heaven as we watched a pod of humpbacks play in the Santa Cruz sunset.
God is good.
Life is good.
And all God's people said "Amen"

addiction takes many forms and effects many people in many ways. Whether drugs or alcohol, social media or s*x there are very few this don't have a dependence on something. We at salty sheep are far from oblivious to the risks and realties of addiction but also embrace the positives such as the dependency on smiles and sunsets. For 2 months we have been hosting a weds evening aa support group at 4pm followed by an open community sail at 5pm and one of our 'sober sailors is steeping it up a level snd leading a weekly support program for anyone hoping to free themselves from a dependency on various substances that inhibit users ability to live they but life. Last minute need for someone that wants a purposeful and playful field trip! We had some volunteers cancel last minute for an accessible rafting trip we are hosting this week and could use 1-2 folks who'd be open to driving and participating in our trip! Meals provided, campsites taken care of and we even have an adaptive yoga instructor and musician on hand. No special skills needed just a smile and a little last minute flexibility

interesting opportunity...let it be known things are all good and sailing in clear skies here for Salty Sheep here in Santa Cruz, however, a few internal changes have presented us with a pretty unique opportunity to upgrade our catamaran with a '25 model in soCal which has dual outboards and a little more weather protected cockpit space while still leaving open roaming room up front. We have the funding coming, but need to clear things with our lenders in order to move forward with the seller. This would allow us to own the boat outright through an LLC we've created and free us from the Church. We are seeking someone, a local buissess to provide us a loan of $150k which we will pay off through monthly interest generating installments until we are able to pay off in full when a transaction we are waiting on goes through which we anticipate occurring in 2-3 months. You would be part of the salty sheep leadership team we are forming as well as our llc which will be able to offer private charters to the community to fund our slip and upkeep needs. If you are in a spot to consider this or know of any local individuals/businesses that have a heart for providing smiles and sailing the southerly seabreeze we'd love to chat more. also let us know if you'd like to be part of our salty sheep steering team as we approach this next era of community engagement...no financial commitment required but there is a passion one! for now we hope to see you this afternoon!
