The first thing you hear is real. It was recorded in our Buddha Hall this week, during the Emperor Liang Jeweled Repentance.

People expect a Buddhist ceremony to be quiet. Come and stand in that hall for one session and you will feel why it is not.

Seven days. Hundreds of bows. Something gives.

Nobody comes out of this ceremony saying it was easy. The legs get tired. The mind gets restless and looks for a reason to stop.

What people say afterward is that they feel lighter. Calmer. More able to concentrate. More at peace than when they walked in.

It asks something of you, and it gives something back.

In the kitchen, our volunteers have not stopped. Cooking, serving, cleaning, and starting again, so that everyone can eat well and keep bowing through the afternoon.

There is still time to join us. The afternoon session begins at 2:00 PM today, Saturday September 5, and tomorrow, Sunday September 6, is the second day of the ceremony. The Emperor Liang Jeweled Repentance runs through September 11.

Come for one session or stay for the week. No experience is needed and there is no cost to attend.

Our volunteers designed the arrangements, went out to choose the flowers, and placed each stem by hand. All of it out of devotion.

They do this because they know what these seven days are worth. They have sat through this ceremony before, and they have felt what it does.

The Emperor Liang Jeweled Repentance begins tomorrow, September 5.

Come and you will understand why they put in so much effort.
