His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’” Matthew 25: 21
Dear Northern Hills UMC Family,
It is with deep sorrow that Northern Hills UMC shares the passing of our beloved Kent Bell, who entered eternal rest on August 24, 2026, at the age of 85. Kent and his beloved wife, Debra, became members of our congregation in 2014. He was an active member of the Traditional service and the Exploring Our Faith class.
Kent was a man of God—an active learner of God’s Word and a faithful seeker of God’s truth. This desire of his heart shaped the way he walked through both the good times and the challenging moments of life.
Kent showed us what it looks like to follow God with sincerity and faithfulness. He had a beautiful voice; when he spoke, people listened—not only because of its sound, but because his words often brought a good question, a statement of faith, a point of knowledge, or a word of hope.
As Steve Hyatt shared about Kent, “I want to remember the man who was bigger than his circumstances. I want to remember that West Texas voice. I want to remember the Bible that was always nearby. I want to remember the Scripture references. I want to remember the conversations about God. I want to remember the questions he asked nurses and doctors. I want to remember his love for Debra. I want to remember his father’s influence. I want to remember his grandmother’s influence. I want to remember the soldier. The worker. The husband. The father. The friend. The brother.”
And most of all, we remember Kent as a true believer in Jesus Christ.
Celebration of Life:
Kent’s Celebration of Life will be held at Northern Hills UMC, 1604 Campus Sanctuary, on September 11, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.
