Oakley Cemetery Association on Hardy Rd

There is a new fence at the cemetery. The association has been wanting to put a new fence in for a couple of years. Stephen Verette built the fence. Stephen, Val Craig, Greg Verette and Renetta Verette worked on it Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We had a few other members help on Saturday. We are so grateful there are people out there who care and give up their time to help make things better for our loved ones final resting place. The service gate is handicapped accessible. Scooters, wheel chairs and walkers will all fit.

Hello Oakley friends and family! It is that time of year again! October the 18th is this year’s annual benefit! The BBQ plates will be $15 dollars a plate and that includes Brisket and sausage, beans, potato salad, coleslaw and all the trimmings. The weather should be perfect! We start serving plates at 11am! Can’t wait to see you all. Please share to all your friends and family.

Friends and family…. We are having an issue with people stealing water from the cemetery. We have caught several people on camera. Please note that the board members are monitoring the cameras 24/7. There is always someone watching. We are asking our members to help spread the word. The police are being called every time we see you and your pictures are being given to the sheriff’s office.
With this being said, does anyone recognize this person and her vehicle?

We want to thank everyone who came out to support the cemetery fundraiser this October. We had a great turn out and it was wonderful to see everyone again. Special thanks to all the people who planned and provided their time to make this successful. Also, to all the people who come out to cook the brisket and sausage. We can't do any of this with them and the people who make all the side dishes. We are blessed to have a great team working and volunteering their time. Thanks you and we hope to see you next year on the 3rd weekend of. October.

Good evening!!! It is almost here. The day that we wait all year for. October 19th, 2024 is our annual Oakley Cemetery Fundraiser. We will start serving food at 11am until we run out or 2pm. It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day, perfect weather for a family outing. As always we will have the best BBQ plates that will include brisket, sausage with beans, potato salad, coleslaw, and all the fixings for only $13.00. Every plate comes with a glass of tea. We will have sodas and waters for sale as well. We will also have a dessert table for any of you with a sweet tooth. We will have the one dollar raffle tickets. And we will also have the live auction. And if we’re lucky will even have the general store again this year. Come on out and join us for a great time of fellowship with great people and really great food. Please help me pass the word by sharing this post.

Please remember that this is our loved one’s final resting place. We work hard to keep it a nice place to go to visit our loved ones who have gone. Please respect the cemetery. This is not acceptable.

Good morning Oakley families and friends. As you know the time is getting closer. Although we have jumped right into our lovely Texas summer, October is just around the corner.
What does this mean for us?
This year’s Annual Oakley Cemetery BBQ Fundraiser will be on October 19, 2024. We will start serving plates at 11:00am and we will serve until we are sold out of food. Plates will be $13.00 and will come with the traditional sausage, brisket, beans, potato salad and coleslaw with all the trimmings.
There will be a country store and a live auction so please if you are crafty, like to build, weld, quilt, make jewelry, sew, enjoy canning then please donate to both of these events. Remember all proceeds go into the cemetery to help keep it looking nice and clean and for any other maintenance that arises throughout the year. So come on by grab a plate and have a seat. Enjoy some conversation and some great food. Let’s keep the tradition going.
Oakley Cemetery is not just a cemetery. It is the final resting place for our loved ones and in time many of us. Please help us make this year’s fundraiser a success!

Oakley Cemetery Families, we have had some situations occurring at our cemetery. We take pride in our loved ones final resting place and we want it to show. However, there have been many people who like to use Oakley Cemetery as a hiding place. A place to do shady things, illegal things. Things we don’t want or appreciate at our cemetery.
The Oakley Cemetery Association has decided to place cameras in the cemetery. We do not want to impede on your time visiting your loved ones. We also know that only those that have ill intentions are the ones who will have a problem with the cameras.
These cameras have already proven to be effective in keeping some of the inappropriate actions from happening as often.
Thank you to all the members for your continued support and your vigilance. We appreciate you all!
We are looking forward to the Annual BBQ Fundraiser on October 21, 2023.
