Sad to hear of the passing of Abe Foxman, a Holocaust survivor, who worked for the Anti-Defamation League for over 50 years, including 28 as its director. Though I at times disagreed with positions he took, there have been few in my lifetime who have fought as hard to combat antisemitism as Abe Foxman. We need more like him today, may his memory be a blessing
“The news of Abe Foxman’s death has sent waves of grief throughout our Jewish world and well beyond. To be sure he was a true gadol hador, a towering figure of his generation who not only spent decades leading the ADL in its fight against antisemitism and all forms of hate but also was an omnipresent voice on virtually every important Jewish communal debate not only about antisemitism but also as a passionate advocate for the security and well-being of Israel and for the special relationship between the U.S. and Israel, as well as for Jewish moral imperatives drawn from Jewish history and tradition.” -URJ President, Rabbi Rick Jacobs
