COUNTRY STORE: Do you have a green thumb? Do you love canning? Maybe you have fall flowers? We need your help to fill the shelves with wonderful items to sell. Homemade goodies, freshly canned fruits, veggies, jams, jellies; craft goods, Fall flower bouquets, etc. are all needed. Contact Mary Herbst if you have something you can provide.

St. Joseph Religious Education begins on Wednesday, September 9. Join in the Family Mass at 6:30 p.m. After Mass, there is a parent meeting and children will meet their teacher. There are holidays that are advertised months in advance that we all spend hours preparing for. But did you know our Catholic liturgical calendar holds deeply meaningful days of obligation too!

August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring the moment the Mother of God was assumed into heaven, body and soul.
✨ AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 2026:
Because August 15th falls on a Saturday this year, the Diocese of Sioux City has dispensed the faithful from the obligation to attend Mass for this Holy Day.
⛪ MASS AT ST. JOSEPH (Salix, IA):
We will hold our regular Mass to celebrate the upcoming Sunday liturgy. Join us!
• When: Saturday, August 15th at 4:00 PM or Sunday, August 16th at 11:00 AM.
• Occasion: 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

SALAD OR DESSERT? People love coming to our dinner because of the variety of homemade salads and pies/cakes. Are you famous for your taco salad, coleslaw, or cranberry fluff? Whatever it is, we want it. Perhaps you like baking? We always have requests for pie 🥧 so this year we are asking for pies or cakes. Stop at the back of the church after mass and let us know what you'd like to delight our dinner guests with. Please remember that your salad or dessert needs to feed 12-15 people so we don't run out. You can also purchase your dinner tickets and raffle tickets at this time.
