Sunday mornings at SFUMC are about more than gathering for worship, they’re also about growing, connecting, serving, and making ministry happen together.
This morning, our church family gathered in so many different ways. A new book study began, our JAM children’s ministry leaders met to discover new tools and resources to support our kids, and our missions team gathered to plan for the fall - just to name a few!
We’re grateful for every person who shows up, shares their gifts, asks good questions, makes plans, and helps create a church where everyone can come to know more of God’s love.

A huge thank-you to everyone who spent their Saturday morning helping spruce up the ELC yard! From raking and weeding, to cleaning gutters and working in the building, your hard work is helping us get ready to welcome our little ones back into the ELC building in just a few weeks.
We are so grateful for the hands and hearts of our SFUMC community. We’re getting closer and we can’t wait to see this place filled with children again!

This Sunday we’re returning to a crowd-favorite worship series, “Faces of Our Faith,” exploring the stories of people who are often overlooked in Scripture. This week, we’ll meet Shiphrah and Puah, two midwives who dared to say “no” to Pharaoh so they could say “yes” to God. Come join us and consider what it might mean for us to courageously say “yes” to God, too.

As we celebrate Labor Day, we’re carrying with us the words of the benediction shared in worship yesterday:

“Go now, beloved people of God,
into the work God has given you to do:
in a workplace or a classroom,
at home or in the community.

May you remember that every act of honest work,
every act of service, every act of care can become an offering to God.

And may we go from this place
determined to build a new world in the midst of the old:
a world where every worker is valued,
and where those who serve and care for others
are themselves served and cared for.

May we trust in the abundance of our Creator,
the love of Christ, and the courage of the Holy Spirit
to live our faith not only in this sanctuary,
but in our workplaces, our homes,
our schools, our communities,
and everywhere God sends us.

Go in peace.
Go in courage.
And go to make God’s love visible
in the work of your hands and the lives you touch.”

We are continuing to make GREAT progress on our Early Learning Center renovations. The space is going to be bright and fresh when we welcome our staff, students, and friends back into the space. In preparation for the re-opening we are having a campus workday on Saturday, September 12th to spruce up the ELC yard and playground. Please join us at 8am bringing rakes, clippers, and gloves if you have them.

The Louisiana Conference Lay Servant Ministries and Board of Laity invite United Methodists to participate in fall Basic and Advanced Course trainings.
