Florin's Jr. YBA is having a fundraiser to help assist Love my Life, Inc., a local nonprofit organization. Love My Life organizes community events, supports groups and youth leadership workshops to strengthen social connections and promote a sense of belonging.
This year, the founder of Love My Life, Mrs. Kowjuana Kirkland, met five homeless teens who need our help. Two were abandoned by their families. One was kicked out of her home because her Mom’s boyfriend was “looking at her.” One was a foster child, kicked out because the foster Mom said, “this is a business!” The last teen has been on the streets most of her life. She was sold to her mother’s friend for drugs. There are a lot more teens on the streets, but these five stood out to Mrs. Kirkland. Despite their circumstances, they were all grateful for the human connection she had made with them.
At this time, Love My Life is looking for monetary donations. Last year, she reached out to Ginny but it was too short of a deadline for BCF’s Jr. YBA to do any collection so Ginny made a large donation herself. Mrs. Kirkland reached out to Ginny again and this year, BCF’s Jr. YBA decided to support this worthy cause. We are asking for monetary donations. If you would like to support this fundraiser, JYBA would appreciate it. No donation is too small. Love My Life will be purchasing the necessary items these teens need and will have a small holiday celebration for them.
If you would like to help support this cause, here’s how:
- Please make your check payable to Buddhist Church of Florin JYBA
- Send it to (deadline 12/6/25):
G. Yamamoto Syphax
3318 Yosemite Park Way
Elk Grove, CA 95758
