In February 2025, Andrew and Jenn MacDonald took part in the NAB Fit Assessment as potential church planters. Just one year later, in February 2026, their church, Grace Collective, hosted another NAB Fit Assessment. The three-day event that helped propel them into their current ministry became the event they themselves hosted for others.

At that February 2026 Fit Assessment hosted by Grace Collective, two candidates – Nelson Mukiza and John – underwent assessment to determine their best fit for ministry as international missionaries. Less than four months later, both of them are now the newest NAB missionaries. Nelson will be planting churches in Nigeria, and John will be leading discipleship efforts in East Asia.

The mutual discernment that takes place at NAB Fit Assessments – a collaboration between the candidates, the staff team, and the Holy Spirit – is the best way we know how to help potential church planters, church revitalizers, and international missionaries determine their best fit in ministry. The next Fit Assessment is happening soon: August 11–13. Visit nabconference.org/events for more info.

One of the great joys of conference-wide events within the NAB, like Bonfire or Triennial, are the opportunity they provide to come together to see old friends and reconnect with those who serve in a different state, region, or country. And for those who have been journeying together as a learning cohort over the past number of months, that joy is even deeper.

This is the case with the 25/26 Blue Ocean cohort at Bonfire. Since the fall of 2025, they have been gathering in person to journey together to explore what it means to join God on mission, be formed into the character of Christ, and dwell in their neighborhoods.

In the years since Blue Ocean began, it has become a source of not only connection with other NAB leaders across the conference but also a place of learning, growth, and even healing. If you are interested in finding out more about Blue Ocean, including how to apply for the 26/27 cohort, visit nabconference.org/blue-ocean.

The godly offer good counsel; they teach right from wrong. They have made God’s law their own, so they will never slip from his path. (Psalm 37:30–31 NLT)

When we come together in unity to examine the Scriptures alongside one another, and learn FROM one another, our souls are woven together in the Spirit. We not only grow closer together as we grow closer to God, but we also build each other up and find “ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24).

Whether it is a family Bible study, a small group, a micro-church gathering, or another source of intimate community and digging into the Word, how are you coming together in unity to build up and be built up?

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. (Hebrews 10:23 NLT)

It is only a short 13 months until the next Triennial, July 15–17, 2027, in Medina, Ohio. The theme for our time together will be hope.

As believers, we are woven together by the hope found in Jesus – the hope of new life and resurrection – and we work, expectant of who God is and what he does in us and in our world. In hope, we can move without always knowing where we are stepping, but we know we are stepping into God’s will and plan. Hope permeates our life in Jesus.

If you were paying close attention a few years back, you might have noticed a subtle shift in how we talk about those special individuals following God’s leading to start new congregations. While we still refer to them as church planters, we also use the term Multiplier. This broader term allows us to also include campus pastors leading at multi-site churches, those who are leading micro-church expressions rather than traditional church plants, pastors of sending churches, and even those working to revitalize churches on the decline.

All these expressions, and more, form the NAB Multipliers community. While these pastors and leaders are doing the same kind of Kingdom work as many others throughout the NAB, there are also some additional aspects of their jobs that help bind them together.

Would you commit to spending a few minutes in prayer for our NAB Multipliers today?

Today is the Canadian Day of Prayer for Camp. As the summer camp season heats up, today is a great day to think back on your own camp experience, or those of your own children. This year, all across the US and Canada, millions of students will be attending Christian summer camps, and thousands of them will be hearing the Gospel for the first time. Would you pray over our NAB camps, the students, and the staff?

Each Wednesday in June, starting June 3, the NAB Missional Initiatives Team is leading a free online evangelistic training for pastors and leaders. This training – Reframe – is designed to help you assess your congregation’s evangelism readiness by providing an evaluative framework to help you to recognize gaps you may need to fill any distortions you will want to correct, and it will provide a clearer path forward toward helping your church become more evangelistically faithful.

Reframe is not a training that will focus on how to better do evangelism but instead will focus on how to be evangelistic.

Each training consists of an online, 90-minute session. You can find more details and register at nabconference.org/events.

NAB Update: Learning, Meeting, Connecting – Jennifer Eckenwiler shares of her experience learning with, meeting together with, and connecting with other emerging leaders in the NAB through Year of Equipping. Also, this is the last week to sign up for Reframe, a 4-week online course in June to help you equip your congregation for evangelism. – https://mailchi.mp/nabconf/5-26-learning-meeting-connecting

Behind the scenes of the NAB International Missions department there is a team of individuals helping to shape and discern the best ways to fulfill the Great Commission in our context. Comprised of current and former NAB missionaries, staff of the NAB International Missions department, and a regional minister, the Missions Advisory Team (also known as the MAT) serve as a sounding board, guides, prayer partners, and so much more to the VP of International Missions.

Without their wisdom and advice, NAB missionary work around the world would look very different. We are so thankful for the MAT!

“Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care” (Psalm 95:6–7 NLT)

So much of the language of the Bible is directed at or about groups rather than individuals. The composer of Psalm 95 calls on US to kneel before the Lord OUR God. We are invited to worship him together. There are few things in life that will bind hearts together in unity better than truly entering together into a place of worship as one.
