Pastor Angel leading a contemplative walk this morning as part of our Season of Creation emphasis

These are the early birds who joined me for a morning contemplative walk at Maidu Regional Park in Roseville (plus Martin, my faithful cameraman).

We noticed the changing leaves, the squirrels climbing trees, the birds chirping, the warm sunshine, the human activity, and lots of dogs happy to play.

This walk is part of our Season of Creation emphasis. There seems to be interest in doing this again!

🕊️ Today is the Feast of Creation in Christ 🌺

As we begin the Season of Creation, Pastor Angel reflects on the words of John 1: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.”

In this season, we turn our attention to the wonder of God’s creation, remembering that all creation bears witness to the light, love, and goodness of God.

We hope you’ll join us for worship at 10:00 am as we begin this journey together.

🌎 Today is the Feast of Creation 🌍

A relatively new addition to the liturgical calendar, the Feast of Creation is part of an ecumenical effort to draw our attention, not away from God, but beyond ourselves. It invites us to look again at the world around us and recognize that creation itself bears witness to the goodness, mercy, and love of God.

For a prayer, below are the lyrics to Creation Duet by Mister Rogers:

Who made the rainbow and the sky
Who made the bird and let it fly
Who made the hour, who made the day
Who had the power to make the flower

The Season of Creation begins in September! 🌿🌎

Join us on Sundays as we turn our attention to the newly established liturgical season, Creation in Christ. In partnership with the United Methodist Creation Justice Movement, our worship series, “Salt + Soil + Seawater,” will invite us to reflect on our relationship with God’s creation and our call to care for it.

Alongside the worship series, Pastor Angel will lead a Common Read of Sharon Delgado’s timely book, "Love in a Time of Climate Change: Honoring Creation, Establishing Justice."
