Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Proverbs 31:25 & 28

Happy Mother's Day! We are thankful for godly mothers!
The songs below capture their "never-giving-up" spirit & faith.
We hope you enjoy them & celebrate this day remembering or in the presence of your mother.

Another church mom & her mother, who was also a part of Roper PH Church. This is Mrs. Theresa McDonald & her mother, Emma Langley Phelps. Mrs. Emma & Mr. Seaton Phelps moved to Roper in the early 1940s.

Mrs. Emma was a very active church member. Her granddaughter, Terry Taylor, had this to say about her grandmother: "She made such an impact on my life growing up. I think of many things that Granny said and did. How strong her faith was! She laid in bed and prayed out loud every night for all her family. I still think that’s why I like praying when I go to bed because she did. If I fall asleep talking to the Shepherd then that is a great way to go to sleep."

I have asked the mothers in our church to provide a picture of them with their mothers for a Mother's Day presentation. This is Mrs. Ruby Hassell hanging up her laundry with her daughter, Carolyn Hassell (Cayton), watching her. Mr. Nathan, Mrs. Ruby, & their family lived next to the old Roper PH Church. Mrs. Ruby was a Proverbs 31 woman who did not "eat the bread of idleness."
This picture is a treasure!

We will celebrate our mothers on Sunday morning. We're thankful for all they do for our church.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

We should be honored that God gives US His best. His best is what helps us live this life & to prepare for eternity. His best INCLUDES everlasting life. Accept His best & be your best, this week!

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” Revelation 12:10-12

Thank you, Chase Meads, for sharing a word with us on being overcomers. Thank you for sharing your story of overcoming in order to answer the Lord's call on your life. We appreciate your study, your commitment, & your activity to fulfill that call.

Church, we can overcome! Don't forget it! Personally, we can overcome the hard places in life, &, corporately, we can overcome the challenges our church faces. Use the tools God has given us to do just that:)

Remember that we trust in the Ultimate Overcomer -
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

1 Amazing grace (how sweet the sound)
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.

2 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed!

3 Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come:
'tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.

4 When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

Amazing Grace, John Newton

Walk in God's grace, this week! Let it keep you joyful, calm, & merciful. Give grace to others. Doesn't everyone need a little grace, these days?

And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. Matthew 17:22 & 23

Adele Ange spoke to us on Easter Sunday morning about how Jesus Christ shared with the disciples four different times that he would die & rise from the grave on the third day. He did so because this was very important. The disciples forgot this information.

How many times do we forget what God has said to us through His Word? We need to do a better job of reading it to retain it. We need to fast & pray to hear from Him. We need to want His Word so we can better remember His Word.

Remember the words "He is risen," this week! Let's rise up ourselves to live "He is risen" lives...lest we forget!

And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. And the superscription of his accusation was written over, The King Of The Jews. And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, Mark 15:25-29

What they did not know was that it was Friday...and Sunday was coming:)

Palm Sunday

7 And they brought the c**t to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.

9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest. Mark 11:7-10

We waved our palm branches, we sang "Hosanna" in different ways, we heard 3 words based on the Palm Sunday Scripture (church, fruit, & worship), & we had Holy Communion. Thank you, Ray Faircloth, Sr. for being an instrument of God in our house of worship on Palm Sunday:)
