✝️ MONDAY MOTIVATION✝️

Yesterday was Holy Trinity Sunday. A day in our church year where we celebrate the doctrine that acknowledges God as three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It might stand out to many of us as the time that we recite the long one, the Athanasian Creed.

But there are so many more things that make this day even more special that I have to share! I'll try to keep it a bit shorter than the creed itself. Who knows, you may need these facts for your Jeopardy debut. 😉

✝️ Trinity Sunday is the only major Christian feast that commemorates a doctrine, rather than an event, by celebrating who God is! 🎉
✝️ The word "Trinity" never appears in the Bible 📖
✝️ Nobody knows who authored the 5th-century Athanasian Creed 🤷
✝️ Trinity comes from the Latin word "trinitas", which means "three" or "triad"
✝️ The word "Trinity" appears 6️⃣ times, and the word "three" 1️⃣1️⃣
✝️ The Athanasian Creed contains 6️⃣6️⃣1️⃣ words, 3️⃣6️⃣3️⃣8️⃣ characters, 2️⃣5️⃣ sentences, 4️⃣1️⃣ paragraphs, and takes just over 3️⃣ minutes to read out loud 😮

The Holy Trinity is one of the most profound mysteries in Christian theology. And probably one of the most confusing. But that's okay! It's not something we can fully explain or solve. We can only encounter, worship, and receive it. And we do that every day that we further our relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Have a blessed week! 😊

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. ... Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness'" (Genesis 1:1-2, 26).

Each Friday, find a weekly collect to include in your prayers as well as a relevant resource in the comments below. This week, pray for the upcoming Synod convention, especially for those who are gathering in St. Louis now for Floor Committee Weekend.

For the LCMS convention this summer and those who are making preparations, especially those serving on the floor committees to prepare the work of our Synod's convention, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
