We continue our week of reminiscing about our Centennial Simcha held on June 4!

A look back at the details that made the evening so special. ✨

The beautiful florals, the incredible food by Signature catering, the elegant décor, and the meaningful touches woven throughout our beautifully renovated Gudelsky Hall—none of it happened by accident. It was the result of countless hours, creative vision, and dedicated volunteers and professionals who poured their hearts into making this Centennial celebration special.

More than just a party, it was a reflection of our community: welcoming, vibrant, generous, and filled with beauty. Some of our favorite highlights included: live Painting with Artist Steve Follman, Centennial Celebration champagne glasses, and specialty crafted cocktails to enjoy by the dance floor!

We’re excited to share even more highlights from our Centennial Simcha! While the evening was filled with delicious food, joyful celebration, and dancing, it was also a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the remarkable journey of the past 100 years.

During a special program in Dweck Sanctuary, we heard from Rabbi Safra and members of the Simcha Committee about what it meant to gather together at this moment in our congregation’s history—not just as witnesses to our Centennial, but as active participants in the continuing story of B’nai Israel. We honored the generations who came before us, whose vision, dedication, and service laid the foundation for the vibrant community we cherish today.

We were also privileged to hear from longtime member Wolf Blitzer, who shared heartfelt reflections on what makes the B’nai Israel community so meaningful to him and his family. And, in a true Simcha highlight, our clergy and staff brought the house down with a hilarious and heartfelt song-and-dance performance written and choreographed by the talented Naomi Gerstenblith. Thank you for celebrating our 100th Birthday with us in style at our Centennial Simcha! We partied the night away with music, dancing, and so many joyful moments together. It truly was a momentous occasion to be together with almost 600 of B’nai Israel’s members who wanted to be part of this once in a lifetime celebration.

This week here on social media we will be highlighting our favorite moments and components of this special night, beginning with YOU our attendees! Stay tuned all this week to reminisce with us.

Join us to watch the 2024 film The Ring on Monday, June 1 from 7:00-9:00 PM. Arnon Noble is a religious man with a strong bond to his mother, a Holocaust survivor. When the mother's health deteriorates, he travels to her old hometown, Budapest to search for the mythological ring that saved her life in the past.

This week has been full of celebration and experiences to honor Israel’s 78th birthday on Yom Haatzmaut, Israel’s National Independence Day. Our 3rd Grade students took their first step in preparation for receiving their own Siddurim at their upcoming  Haggigat Hasefer ceremony. Rabbi Stone lead parents and children through an exploration of the Friday night service encouraging us to think about why certain prayers exist and how they play a role in our liturgy. We look forward to celebrating with our third grade families next month in this important day of their Jewish educational journeys.

Last night Rabbi Safra lit this candle to honor the Jewish lives who perished in the Shoah.

Our Board of Governors were gathered together for our monthly meeting to ensure the continued strength and success of the synagogue so it was especially poignant to be together for this symbolic lighting and to be reminded why this volunteer work is so important.

Today as we observe the flames of the candles sent to each of our homes by the Men’s Club for this day we take time to Never Forget our brothers and sisters who perished.
