Welcome and Ways of Discipleship The Liturgist

CALL TO WORSHIP: Liturgist and People
L: Family of God, we live in a world full of conflict and division.
P: God calls us to be a people of reconciliation.
L: We live in a world full of misinformation and confusion.
P: God calls us to be a people of truth and clarity.
L: We live in a world that wants to settle disputes with harmful words and actions.
ALL: God calls us to be a people who make peace through compassion and honesty.

*HYMN OF PRAISE: Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee UMH #89

*OPENING PRAYER: (Unison)
Holy and eternal God, Ancient of days, we enter your presence to remember and rejoice. We come looking for your steadfast faithfulness and your loving care. May we be a people who seek reconciliation and genuine forgiveness with one another! In remembrance and gratitude for your mercy and your grace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen.

*RESPONSIVE READING: (Psalm 149) The Liturgist & People
L: Praise the Lord! Sing a new song to the Lord; praise Him in the assembly of His faithful people!
P: Be glad, Israel, because of your Creator; rejoice, people of Zion, because of your king!
L: Praise His name with dancing; play drums and harps in praise of Him.
P: The Lord takes pleasure in His people; He honors the humble with victory.
L: Let God's people rejoice in their triumph and sing joyfully all night long.
P: Let them shout aloud as they praise God, with their sharp swords in their hands to defeat the nations and to punish the peoples;
L: To bind their kings in chains, their leaders in chains of iron; to punish the nations as God has commanded.
ALL: This is the victory of God's people. Praise the Lord!

*GLORIA PATRI: “Glory Be to The Father” UMH #71

PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (In Unison)
Merciful God, we have not always sought reconciliation as you have called us to do. We have allowed pride and fear to keep us from addressing conflicts with love and grace. Forgive the times we have withheld forgiveness and failed to seek peace. Help us approach others with an open heart, ready to heal and restore relationships. Reconcile us with your love and compassion, and bless us with your compassionate presence, that we may be filled with joy, love, and hope this day and always. In your holy name. Amen.
