St. Joseph Students Shine in Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest!

We’re proud to share that all three top winners of the local VFW Patriot’s Pen essay contest are students from St. Joseph School! 🎉 Congratulations to George Handorf (3rd place), Mary Smith (2nd place), and Juliana Peters (1st place).

The winners were honored at the annual Veterans Day Program at Rice Lake Middle School, where Juliana also read her essay to the audience. A special moment from the day—Juliana was joined by her grandpa, Bill Baxter, a Vietnam veteran who inspired her essay.

👏 Thank you to our students for representing St. Joseph’s so well, and to all veterans for their service and sacrifice!

With heavy hearts, we share the news of the peaceful passing of Sister Claudine Balio last night.

She touched countless lives with her faith, kindness, and unwavering commitment to our school community. SJS will never be the same without her.

Complete funeral arrangements are still pending, but the funeral Mass will happen on Monday, July 28th at St. Joseph in Rice Lake at 11am, with visitation for some amount of time prior to the funeral at the church. In the meantime, we ask you to join us in prayer for the repose of her soul. May she rest in the peace of Christ.

When the church received word than an elderly woman was getting evicted from her apartment, our brother Knights sprung into action to help get her items to a storage unit while Rice Lake St. Vincent de Paul coordinated a new place for her to live.

"Give a Pint, Get a Pint". The Rice Lake Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 11:00am - 5:00pm at Rice Lake Knights Hall (Knights of Columbus Building).

The Knights of Columbus is encouraging everyone to prayerfully consider making a blood donating to help reduce the current blood shortage taking place.

Your donation will help replenish our Nation’s Blood supply.

Appointments are highly encouraged. To make an appointment please call 800 733-2767 or on the internet, go to www.redcrossblood.org and search for Knights of Columbus to find drive.

✨ Join us for a special celebration! ✨ Bishop Powers will preside over the 10:00 AM Mass on September 8 at Our Lady of Lourdes, where we’ll bless our beautiful new stained glass windows. 🕊️

After Mass, enjoy a reception in the dining area as we celebrate the completion of our preservation efforts and the stunning enhancement of our church. ⛪

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported this project with your input, prayers, patience, understanding, and donations! 🙏 Special thanks to Fr. Ed for his leadership and to Fr. Oberts and Fr. Mullen for their years of dedication. This will be a joyous occasion—don’t miss it! 🎉

Garage sale happening next week!

It's that time of year! Next week our Knights of Columbus Council 2137 (Rice Lake) will be hosting their annual Garage Sale at the Knights Hall!

The Knights are accepting donations starting next week, April 22-24.

All proceeds from the sale stay in the community to support important causes.
