Day 19 5/5/26 Update : Chris Jr.
Met with the care team at 9 AM today. He’s going into CT so they can take a look at the tooth that started this whole thing. They plan to extract that tooth at some point.
They’re giving his body one more day of rest and they’re going to begin to lower the ECMO flow again. Tomorrow we go back to the OR for the 5th time. Goal and plan of care is to close the chest if able. Possibly switch ECMO to Protek Duo. If his heart is still too weak, they will begin discussing next options. They told me they have a bag of tools and that we’re not near the end of the road yet.

Surgery and OR visit #4
Hospital called for approval of installing Impella device and removing ECMO this morning. Chris is still in an extremely high risk category. Everything thing they’ve warned could possibly go sideways after each step has happened, and he overcame each one. Let’s pray that that the surgeon is successful in his plan of care today! Let’s pray he overcomes the odds and lets pray that the miracle be complete! Everything he has endured and conquered up till now have all been miracles with the odds stacked against him! He keeps on keeping on! GLORY TO GOD! Lord, we can only do what we can in the natural and let you do the supernatural. I beg you to show up today and do your thing! In your Holy Name Jesus! AMEN

5/2/26 UPDATE : Chris Jr
We need to pray everyone! They attempted to take him off ECMO. His right ventricle is too weak to function on its own. The left side is also weak. If they took him off, he wouldn’t make it through the night. The doctor informed us we have to wait and watch. I asked about checking again tomorrow… he said no, too soon. Looks like I’ll need to be at the 9:00am pow wow on Monday morning when they do rounds so I can start raising heaven with questions. Please pray if you can. As much as I love all your support, and messages, and calls, I ask that if I don’t contact you, please respect the privacy boundary as we navigate this small bump in the road. God is faithful and just! My hope is in Him! My faith is in Him!

4/30/2026 - UPDATE from Chris Jackson IronbornStrength on Chris Jr.

They are tentatively planning to take him back into the OR on Saturday for a washout of the open chest. At which time, they are going to attempt to take him off the ECMO machine. They have been weaning his numbers on the machine already. Currently his blood pressures have now stabilized. He’s off all vasopressors. He’s warm again to the touch. His skin color looks normal and healthy again! Let’s continue to pray that they are able to get him off ECMO Saturday and close the chest. He still has 2 nurses at his beside 24 hours a day due to the amount of machines he’s on... The CVSICU doesn’t mess around with life! I couldn’t ask for a better care team! SUTTER, YOU ROCK!! He’s making improvements and I’m still waiting for the miracle to be complete!

UPDATE 4/29/26 2nd Surgery
Goal for today’s surgery was a success. We have an extremely long road to recovery. First, he will remain with an open chest for minimal a few days as they get fluid out. There was fluid in the lungs that they’re getting out. The right side of his heart was completely stopped and not functioning and now it is starting to flicker so it’s going to have to start working again. The surgeon said people have recovered from the point! Let’s continue to pray that he makes it through this recovery and gets to full health!!

4/28/26 UPDATE:
Second open heart surgery scheduled for 7:30 AM tomorrow. Two surgeons will be performing the surgery. They have to replace the valve again to access the location of the required patch. He has what’s called left to right shunting. Basically blood is leaking under pressure over into the right ventricle and caused right ventricle failure on Saturday night. Let the miracle be complete tomorrow in Jesus name! They’ve toned down the propofol this morning and Chris is able to respond to verbal commands. He squeezed my hand. He nods up and down when I asked him if he could hear me. He attempts to give a thumbs up when I tell him to give me a thumbs up. He definitely wants the tube out of his throat. Pray for my son and my family as we continue to walk through the valley of the shadow of death. We will fear no evil in our preparing an altar of praise in our hearts and lives for the miracle we are going to receive!
