Thelma Stevens served as head of Christian Social Relations for the Woman’s Division from 1940 to 1968. She was an unstoppable champion for racial justice, international peace, and women’s rights.

An outspoken advocate for racial equality and integration, she drafted the 1952 Charter for Racial Policies to desegregate the Woman’s Division. A decade later, she authored a broader Charter calling for the elimination of discrimination throughout the Methodist Church — adopted by General Conference in 1964.

Stevens’ legacy: Courageous faith in action and a church challenged to become more just and inclusive.

Join us on Sunday, June 7, immediately after church in Weeks Hall, as we celebrate our 2nd Annual Staff Appreciation Day!

This is a special time for our church family to come together and show love and gratitude to our incredible staff. From worship, music, and programming, to youth and children’s ministry, to those who faithfully care for our facilities and surroundings, to providing welcoming and informative office administration—every role helps keep our church vibrant and thriving.

A main course will be provided. Members are warmly invited to bring desserts and treats to share. Love offerings and cards are also greatly appreciated as we express our heartfelt thanks for all they do.

We look forward to celebrating together!
