We don’t usually share the charitable giving we do behind the scenes at Sprout & Blossom. We’ve always felt that’s something better done quietly.
But this month, Sprout & Blossom will begin making a monthly donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books to children from birth to age five, mailed right to their homes.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I have always loved Dolly. Her passing has had me thinking so much about the incredible legacy she left behind and how the things she cared about will continue long after her. For me personally, this felt like one small way I could help carry a tiny piece of that legacy forward and I can’t think of a more fitting way than helping put books into the hands of children.
I also love that California has partnered with the Imagination Library to expand the program throughout our state. We were able to choose a specific local program partner for our monthly donation, and we chose one right here in the Inland Empire so our contribution can help children and families close to home.
For me, this is about giving back to our local community, supporting children’s literacy, and honoring a woman who inspired me in more ways than I could ever put into one post.
My love for Dolly, my love for children’s literature, and what we believe in at Sprout & Blossom all come together so beautifully in this program. That’s also why I decided to share something we would normally keep behind the scenes because maybe someone else will discover the Imagination Library, enroll a child, make a donation, or simply tell another family about it.
It’s a small thing we can do each month, but I think that’s part of what a legacy is, taking something someone planted and helping it continue to grow.
And this feels like a pretty perfect seed for Sprout & Blossom to help keep growing. 🌱🌸
