Music legend Dolly Parton has died at 80, leaving behind a legacy that reaches far beyond music.

Her generosity and belief in the power of books helped inspire Harold Grinspoon to create PJ Library in 2005, bringing Jewish stories and ideas into the homes of families around the world. Today, PJ Library helps families build connections to Jewish life through the simple, powerful act of reading together.

In 2023, Harold had the chance to thank Dolly personally for the inspiration. She shared that she was honoured that her Imagination Library had inspired PJ Library and others to help foster a love of reading in children.

At UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, we’re proud to help bring PJ Library to families across our community, creating meaningful Jewish moments and connections, one story at a time.

Thank you, Dolly, for inspiring generations of readers and for helping spark a program that continues to strengthen Jewish life for families around the world.

May her memory be for a blessing. 🤍

Shabbat Shalom! Today is Juneteenth, a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Keshet offices are closed today in observance of Juneteenth. Keshet staff are spending the day engaging with and learning from Black Jews, and you're invited to join us.

It's so important to honor this date right now, as public observances of holidays like Juneteenth and Pride Month are threatened because they celebrate marginalized people and our stories.
