The Church at the Center.... Located in the center of Redding, CT, we have been gathering since 1729.

Worship services are at 10am every Sunday, with occasional special mid-week services. Whether you need a Bible Study, a Youth Group, or Pastoral Care, whether you're looking for God, A Church Home, or yourself, we a here to walk with you on your faith journey.

We will be offering two Christmas Eve Services today. Our 5 pm service is family oriented with scripture and carols that tell of Jesus' birth. As tradition at First Church has it, we will end the service with the ringing of the bells to be given out at the end of the service. The 9 pm service will offer Lessons and Carols that are familiar as a lullaby is to our hearts. We begin in darkness as the light of Christ begins to shine brighter throughout the service. In the spirit of Christmas we will share in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. It is a beautiful way to usher a very special child into this world. God incarnate, God with us. Also be sure to join us on Sunday for our special 10 AM worship, featuring "A Quartet of Carols."

This Sunday, December 21 our 10 am worship will offer a sampling of pieces from G.F. Handel's oratorio, Messiah. These familiar pieces are paired with scripture that is powerful and moving. This worship will speak to your soul in this busy time of preparation for the journey towards Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus Christ.

The First Church of Christ, Congregational will be holding our 40th Live Nativity Pageant on our church campus. We invite the community to join us on Saturday, December 13 at 5 PM. Tradition cites Francis of Assisi as being the originator of a living nativity scene in the 13th century to commemorate the story of the birth of Christ. Participants in the First Church pageant are members of the congregation, from the Sunday school children portraying angels, to teenagers and adults taking the parts of shepherds, three kings, the innkeeper and Mary and Joseph. The youngest cast member will be sleeping in the manger along with live animals. We welcome our friends and neighbors to enjoy singing carols and a reception with hot chocolate held inside Ahlberg Hall at the close of the program.
