At the center of the most famous prayer ever said, our Lord and Savior gave his followers these words, “Our Father . . . your kingdom come, your will be done.” In the garden again, Christ reminds us when he prays, “Father . . . not my will but yours be done.” Does our prayer sound like this? Or do we pray in a manner that leaves us asking, “Why couldn’t we?”

Christ has given his church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to serve and build up toward unity and maturity. Do we want unity and maturity that requires humility, discernment, and cooperation? Or do we want to be tossed back and forth chasing lesser things?
