Paul sends a second letter to a single house church in Colossae. The letter and the letter bearer come as a surprise and present an opportunity for the virtues of life in Christ to be shown firsthand. Paul appeals not to apostolic authority but on the basis of love. One respected man, well within his rights to seek retribution, asked instead to seek reconciliation: a personal choice, a public lesson.
