Happy Labor Day!

Today, we give thanks for the work of many hands and the gifts God has given each of us. Whether your work is done in an office, classroom, home, field, shop, or in service to others, may you find purpose and joy in using your gifts to serve your neighbor.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” — Colossians 3:23

Wishing you a safe, restful, and blessed Labor Day! ❤️

Gracious Lord,

Thank You for reminding us that we are never meant to walk alone. Help us to speak truth with love, forgive generously, and seek reconciliation when we are hurt or divided.

Give us humble hearts that listen before we judge and courage to have the conversations that bring healing. When two or three gather in Your name, remind us that You are there with us—guiding us, strengthening us, and holding us together in Your grace.

May our church be a place where Your love is seen, Your forgiveness is freely given, and all are welcomed in Your name.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. 🙏

Did you know the beloved hymn “Blessed Assurance” was written in 1873 by lyricist F***y Crosby and composer Phoebe Palmer Knapp?

When Knapp played her new melody for Crosby and asked what it said to her, Crosby immediately responded:

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!”

The rest is history. More than 150 years later, this beautiful hymn continues to remind us of the joy, peace, and confidence we have in Christ.

🎶 *This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.* 🎶

Sunday's Psalm 26 tells of David asking God to examine his heart and judge his faithfulness. He declares that he has trusted in the Lord and has tried to live with integrity rather than following people who reject God.

He asks to be kept away from evil influences and dishonest people, choosing instead to worship with God’s people. The passage ends with David expressing his deep love for God’s house and His presence.

In simple terms:

“Lord, You know my heart. I want to walk faithfully with You, stay away from evil, and remain close to Your presence. I love being where You are.”

💭 If God were to examine your heart today, what would you want Him to find?

Heavenly Father, as we enjoy this Sunday afternoon, help us slow down and remember what truly matters.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 16 that following Him isn’t always easy. Taking up our cross means trusting Him even when the road is difficult and choosing His ways over our own.

Lord, give us the faith to follow You, the strength to carry whatever this week brings, and the courage to love and serve those around us. When we feel weary, remind us that Your grace is always enough and that our hope rests in Jesus, our crucified and risen Savior.

“Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” — Matthew 16:25

✝️ Lord, keep us close to You this week.
Amen.
