“I PREACH ON HELL BECAUSE I’M NOT GOING THERE, AND I DON’T WANT YOU TO GO!”
Hell is not a scare tactic invented by men—it is a real place spoken of plainly by the Lord Jesus Christ. The One who preached most about hell was not a harsh prophet, but the loving Son of God. Why? Because love warns.
The Bible says in Luke 16:23 (KJV):
“And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments…”
That rich man did not cease to exist. He was conscious. He remembered. He felt torment. And he begged that someone would warn his family. Even in hell he cried out because he did not want others to come there.
Church, if we truly love souls, we cannot stay silent about judgment. A doctor warns because he cares. A watchman cries out because danger is near. A preacher lifts his voice because eternity is real.
Ezekiel 33:8 (KJV):
“When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way… his blood will I require at thine hand.”
Hell was never made for mankind. Jesus said in Matthew 25:41 (KJV):
“…everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:”
But every soul that rejects Christ chooses separation from God.
Yet this is the mercy of the gospel: you do not have to go there.
Romans 10:13 (KJV):
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Jesus took the judgment of sin at Calvary. He shed His blood. He died. He rose again. He made a way of escape.
So we preach on hell not with hatred—but with tears.
Not to condemn—but to call sinners to repentance.
Not to push people away—but to point them to Jesus Christ.
Because heaven is real.
Because hell is real.
Because time is short.
And because “the Lord is… not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9 KJV)
If you can hear His voice today, don’t harden your heart.
Come to Christ while mercy’s door is open.
John 3:36 (KJV):
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life….”
Amen.
