High school should be different... lectures, book work, and note taking should not be the center of learning. The ICAP framework research showed that deeper cognitive engagement through active-learning (kinesthetic-learning) leads to stronger learning gains than traditional, lecture-based instruction. Earlier in the year we discussed what causes things to fall faster or slower. It wasn’t weight, it was aerodynamics. Over the year, lessons built and by the end of the year, students were tasked with safely landing an egg on the ground without the box being the protection. Students climbed up on a tower and dropped their eggs, challenging one another with their engineering skills.
