Congregation Har Shalom Our synagogue family, your family synagogue! We are a progressive, egalitarian, participatory Conservative Jewish congregation located in the Washington, D.C.

suburb of Potomac, Maryland. With a membership of over 700 families, we hold services every day and offer active and diverse educational, social, religious, cultural, and community-oriented programs for people of all ages, from preschoolers to seniors. A huge thank you to our amazing Har Shalom community for showing up and making our Back to Shul Bash such a fun and meaningful celebration. We loved seeing so many familiar faces and welcoming everyone back!

And a very special thank you to the Ronald & Hanna Lee Pomerantz Engagement Fund for generously sponsoring this wonderful program and helping bring our community together.

Last Thursday on Tisha B’Av, our community came together for an evening of remembrance and reflection. After Mincha, we dedicated a Holocaust-era Torah, honoring the resilience of the Jewish people and the importance of preserving our history.

We then screened the award-winning documentary Among Neighbors and heard virtual remarks from filmmaker Yoav Potash, whose powerful film reminds us of the importance of Holocaust remembrance and confronting antisemitism.

We are also grateful for the dedication of our gallery in loving memory of Har Shalom founding members Stanford and Elaine Steppa z״l, generously given by Jamie, Howard, and Molly Wollner.

ICYMI: Last week was filled with meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, and celebrate together as a community!

A huge thank you to Jonathan Edelman, Collections Curator at the Lillian & Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum, for sharing a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at preserving the history of the Greater Washington Jewish community. Jonathan brought the museum’s collections to life and helped illuminate the rich stories that make up our local Jewish history.

We also extend our thanks to Rabbi Rosenblum for hosting a Rainbow Challah event. It was a wonderful opportunity to gather, create, and connect with one another.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, we love seeing our community come together to learn, celebrate, and connect. Be sure to keep an eye on our calendar for more exciting events and opportunities to gather in the weeks ahead!
