"As John Wesley lay dying at the age of eighty-seven, a small group of friends gathered around him. He motioned for them to come kneel around him for prayer.

As they finished praying, Wesley tried to speak, but in his weakened condition it was a struggle just to get the words out. So they moved closer, and as they did, John Wesley cried out with one final burst of strength, 'The best of all is, God is with us!'

And then in a final gesture of triumph just before he died, Wesley lifted his arm and repeated the words, 'The best of all is, God is with us!'

The Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our fortress. Amen!"

¿Entiende lo que significa ser salvo?

La salvación debe producir un cambio tanto en nuestra manera de vivir como en nuestra mentalidad (Ro 12.2). Tras encontrarse con Cristo en el camino de Damasco, Pablo se retiró por un tiempo a Arabia, donde necesitó aprender del Señor antes de iniciar su ministerio.

De igual forma, los nuevos creyentes necesitan comprender el verdadero significado de la salvación. Veamos algunos términos que explican lo que significa “ser salvo”:

► Nacer de nuevo (Jn 3.3; 2 Co 5.17). El nuevo nacimiento es comenzar de nuevo. Nos convertimos en nuevas criaturas en Cristo, con nueva vida espiritual e identidad.

► Convertirse (1 Ts 1.9). Convertir algo significa cambiarlo, como cuando se intercambia dinero de una moneda a otra. La vida cristiana implica muchos cambios diferentes.

► Recibir a Cristo (Jn 1.12). A menudo pensamos en la salvación como algo que Dios nos da, pero es más que eso. Cuando alguien confía en Cristo, esa persona recibe al Señor para que Él viva dentro de su ser.

Piense en cómo pensaba y vivía usted antes de conocer al Salvador, en comparación con ahora. ¿En qué sentido ve un cambio genuino? Pídale a Dios que le revele áreas en su vida donde Cristo pueda hacerse más evidente.
