Our relationship with waiting is not always a good one. In this world of same-day shipping, instant gratification is the expectation. We are conditioned for immediate satisfaction. We are so averse to sitting and waiting for things to come. We have forgotten the beautiful gift of waiting on the Lord. This is an art in which it is a way our Lord shows His character. The concept of waiting is not foreign to our God, in fact, it is a tool that He has used time and time again to reflect His goodness. Remember those in the Bible who are aquatinted with this process:
Abraham waited years for his son.
David still had to tend to his sheep after he was anointed to be king.
Joseph waited years for his suffering to be redeemed.
Humanity waited three days as Jesus was in the grave... but resurrection was coming.
You do not know what God is doing while you wait... and you can't speed up the process, either. There's no short cut solution, or end time-frame that is promised to us. So for now, while you are in the in-between, open your eyes to what God may be doing. He might be preparing you. He might be healing you. He might be pruning out your negative habits that could jeopardize the thing you have been praying for. He might be moving things around on the other side of the door that you currently can't open. He might be paving the way, and you just don't see it yet.
Waiting isn't easy... especially when there is heartbreak and pain involved.
But God sees our pain. He is no stranger to it.
He is a gracious father who is always available for us to come to Him.
This is a reminder not to give up.
Remember that you are His child and He loves you.
He is not empty handed. He knows the desires of you heart.
Whatever the outcome may be, God has your best interest in mind.
Worship Him while you wait. 🤍
