✝️ 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 "𝗚𝗢𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗟 𝗚𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘" 𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗦?
Just before the proclamation of the Holy Gospel, Catholics make three small Signs of the Cross: one on the forehead, one on the lips, and one on the heart.
This ancient and meaningful gesture is a silent prayer asking God to help us receive His Word fully.
✝️ 𝟭. 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗗
As we trace the cross on our forehead, we pray:
"May the Gospel be in my mind."
We ask God to enlighten our thoughts and help us understand His Word with faith and wisdom.
✝️ 𝟮. 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗣𝗦
As we trace the cross on our lips, we pray:
"May the Gospel be on my lips."
We ask for the courage to proclaim Christ, defend the truth, and speak words that reflect the Gospel.
✝️ 𝟯. 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧
As we trace the cross on our heart, we pray:
"May the Gospel be in my heart."
We ask that God's Word take root within us, transform our lives, and guide our actions.
✝️ 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗚𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧?
The Gospel is not merely a reading; it is the living Word of God.
This gesture reminds us that we are called not only to hear the Gospel but also to believe it, proclaim it, and live it.

✝️ Let the Gospel shape your thoughts.
✝️ Let the Gospel guide your words.
✝️ Let the Gospel transform your heart.
✝️ Hear the Word of God with reverence and faith.
✝️ Live the Gospel every day.

When you make the three small Signs of the Cross before the Gospel, you are making a beautiful prayer:
