This is why the assignment God has given to us at Calvary House matters. We get to watch men go from being lost, spiritually dead, and gripped by the enemy to teaching His Word and sharing what He has done in their lives.

Addiction can bring fear, uncertainty, and moments when you don’t know what to do next. Whether you’re facing addiction yourself or walking alongside someone you love, you don’t have to face those moments alone.

May this verse be a reminder that God is present in the uncertainty—giving strength when we feel weak, help when we feel overwhelmed, and hope when the way forward feels unclear. 💙

Every Sunday night at Calvary House, each man turns in a Weekly Insight, an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and put into words what the Lord has been speaking to him and showing him throughout the week.

For our team, these are incredibly encouraging to read. They give us a glimpse into the work God is doing beneath the surface as these men grow, wrestle through challenges, and learn to apply what they’re being taught to their everyday lives.

Below are just a couple of examples from this week.

DAVE:
“This week, one thing that the Lord was speaking to me was “Stand Firm.” Putting God’s Word into practice is what I’m practicing now when I’m here. A lot of foolishness goes on with the guys here (rule breaking/bending), lack of integrity when alone. In the midst of all that, God is speaking to me to remain above reproach and stand firm.

This is a good training ground because the world outside of here is foolish, and it will come at me with a full head of steam. This is great practicing. God’s grace for my own foolishness and mistakes throughout my life strengthens me and encourages me.

I’m reading His teachings now and holding on to them for application. God is speaking to me this way as well. I’m looking at the trials here, my feelings toward them, my anger that gets stirred up, and using the opportunity to grow.

The Lord is showing me, with everything encompassing Calvary House, it’s all a chance to grow. So I need to lean on the Lord’s Word and push through all of this with the perspective that I’m growing and equipping myself for life.”

KP:
“During this week I feel like God was showing me the importance of staying in prayer and getting rest. I could feel myself starting to grow weary a few days throughout the week and began asking God what is going on in my heart, mind, and spirit.

God revealed to me that I need to take more time alone to pray and spend quiet time with the Lord and also give myself a chance to recharge. Even Jesus Christ took time to himself to talk to God alone and rest.

God also revealed to me that through faith in Him and patience, He can restore the broken relationships in my life. Sometimes God’s promises seem too good to be true, but through the testimony on Wednesday and the testimonies at the graduation, I knew that God was reassuring me that as long as I continue to surrender my life to Him every day, that God would make the impossible possible.

I am thankful to know that God is always present and He cares about our needs enough to listen to our prayers. The Lord works miracles and only requires that we devote our lives to Him. Thank you, God.”

Please continue to pray for these men as they walk this new journey God has placed before them. The road isn’t always easy, and there will be moments when giving up and returning to what is familiar may seem like the easier choice. Pray that God gives them the strength, courage, and perseverance to keep moving forward, one day at a time.

GRADUATION DAY!! Graduating from Calvary House represents a man who came in broken, defeated, or enslaved by addiction and made the decision to surrender his life to Jesus and allow God to begin rebuilding him from the inside out.

It represents transformation.

A Calvary House graduation isn’t a celebration of men who finished a program. It’s a celebration of men who surrendered their old lives and are walking into the new lives God has given them.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Men, we are so incredibly proud of you!! You are equipped and without excuse now. You have an army of people who love you and who are surrounding you. You have a community that loves you. Most importantly, you have Jesus who will never leave you nor forsake you. Anchor yourselves in these truths and you will prosper.
