Florida Coast Church

Florida Coast Church A Christ-centered church in Pompano Beach devoted to the gospel, discipleship, prayer and community. Sundays at 10 AM at 371 S Federal Hwy in Pompano Beach, FL.

The same year Larry Trotter graduated from Northeast High School, he also became a Christian through the ministry of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. At Duke University, he studied Math and Economics in preparation for a career in business. However, God redirected his path by calling him into the ministry during his senior year. At Westminster Theological Seminary, Larry met, fell in love with, an

d married Sandy, who had just returned from three years teaching at Christ College in Taiwan. After three years as an associate pastor in Maryland with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Larry and Sandy left with their infant daughter for Mexico City, where they helped start a new church. After four years and with two young daughters, they moved to Guadalajara, where they spent the next twenty years, starting new churches, a school, a community development center, and a ministry training institute. Always fascinated with public speaking, Larry earned a PhD in Communication along the way with a focus on preaching. With both of their daughters back in the States and the work in Mexico prospering on its own, Larry and Sandy began to search for a new ministry in which they could put to good use their training and international experience. This search kept them in the work of new church development and led them back to Larry's hometown, where they are working to start Florida Coast Church, part of the PCA and a mission of CityChurch Fort Lauderdale. As a Christian church, the PCA holds the Bible to be the infallible word of God and Jesus Christ to be the Savior of sinners who trust and follow him. The goal for Florida Coast Church is to unite the diverse ages, cultures, and languages of South Florida in a community of faith, learning, and love.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

This is what some might ask Christians when they speak of Christ being THE way, THE truth, and THE life.

But it is not about who we are, but about who Jesus is and who he demonstrated himself to be.

HE is God in the flesh, the only sacrifice for sins, and the first to be raised from the dead and witnessed by hundreds.

HE IS THE ONLY ONE

Acts 4:12 (ESV)
“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Florida Coast Church is rejoicing! This past Lord’s Day we received new members and baptized two of them 🙌. One of our covenant children also became a communicant member, professing her own faith in Christ!

Matthew 28:18–20, ESV
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ!

He is our prophet who speaks the truth to us (Acts 3:21-22; 2 Cor. 13:3)

He is our priest who offered himself once for all for our sins and forever lives to intercede for us (Heb. 5:5-7 and 7:25)

He is our King who reigns over us, defends, and restrains and conquers our enemies (Ps. 2:6: Is. 9:6-7; Matt. 21:5; Ps. 2:8-11)

Your words I’ve treasured in my heart
So that from You I will not turn
That I’ll not sin, O blessed LORD,
Your statutes teach, that I may learn.

Psalm 119:11-12 (Book of Psalms for Worship)

Things aren’t always what they seem.

In Acts 25, Paul stood trial before Festus and was surrounded by his enemies being falsely accused. By the end he had appealed to Caesar and had to be kept in chains even longer.

But this is how God would accomplish his purpose of advancing the gospel in the world. God was working through it all!

He still works through difficult circumstances today, but the question is do we have the faith to see it?

Acts 25 shows us that things aren't always as they seem. Today at Florida Coast Church, Pastor Chris preached a sermon teaching us to walk by faith and not by sight.

In Acts 25, the powerful looked powerful and a prisoner looked like a prisoner. But the man in chains carried the message that changes everything: Jesus, who was dead, is alive. We'd love for you to come hear that message this Sunday as Pastor Chris preaches the Bible verse by verse.

"A preacher's life should be a commentary upon his doctrine; his practice should be the counterpane [counterpart] of his sermons. Heavenly doctrines should always be adorned with a heavenly life."
