Another UIF Sunday is coming up at Christ Church At Grove Farm on October 25th, and you’re invited! This will be a great opportunity to experience what a week at Urban Impact looks like. Our Jazz Band will perform before each service, and the UI Choir will lead us in a time of worship with songs including “Alleluia” and “I Trust in God.” You’ll also hear a powerful story from Urban Missionaries, Bryce & Kortney McGarvey, about how their house became a catalyst in transforming their North Side neighborhood.

Following worship, Nate Glover will give the message as he preaches from Philippians 1:12-24, emphasizing what it means to have “Chains for Christ”. At the end of the service, you’ll have the chance to talk with our missionaries to hear how they are making disciples who make disciples, learn more about our programs, and take the next step in getting connected with us.

If you are unable to attend in person, we encourage you to tune into the service via livestream: https://www.ccgf.org/livestream/

Service times: 8:45am & 10:45am

Our Urban Fellows are on fire for God! They're not only eager to learn how to be disciple makers, but they're also growing spiritually healthy with each other. They recently spent a weekend at Lake Erie with other young adults from Christ Church At Grove Farm, growing in their relationship with Jesus as they learned that He is the perfect parent. The first day started with a silent morning in reverence to the Lord. For the rest of the weekend, they enjoyed outdoor activities, had praise and worship sessions, took Communion by the lake, and shared meals.

One night they gathered in groups to pray for one another, asking the Lord what He wants to tell His children. Before the end of the retreat, everyone was given a handful of symbols and picked one that stood out to them. They then prayed and listened to what God was teaching them through it. One of the fellows shared what he learned, saying, “The Lord is the wind in my sail, even when the waters are rough, and my vision is cloudy.”

We praise God for the time and space these young adults had to abide in Jesus to continue growing as holistically healthy followers of Christ.

It’s fall, which means flag football is back! Over the next month, 40+ 2nd–5th grade students will gather on Saturday mornings to practice football drills, compete in games, and dive deep into John 3:16 during the Bible lessons. We’re beyond grateful to Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL FLAG for partnering with us to level up the experience by providing official jerseys and equipment for our students to enjoy.

With the help of 20+ volunteers, our students can confidently step onto the field each week, knowing they are in a safe, loving atmosphere to encounter God’s love. We’re not just here to run programs. Football is fun, but more importantly, it opens the door for our missionaries and volunteers to build meaningful, Christ-centered relationships with students and their families.

Alongside offering gospel-centered programs to students on the North Side, we strive to love our neighbors by helping them keep their properties safe and clean. We recently had the privilege of collaborating with Ballfield Farm and Perry Hilltop Citizens Council to clean up trash and debris along a wooded pathway for community members to enjoy. Many hands make light work! Three Perry High School students joined us, and through their hard work, they earned service-learning hours for their graduation projects led by our Options/Workforce Development Department. As we work to be more like Jesus, we thank God for placing us in ordained moments like these to serve others.

We are always grateful to lock arms with organizations around Pittsburgh. Most recently, Koppers partnered with us by choosing Urban Impact as their Strikeout Charity for the month of September. Every time a Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher threw a strikeout, Koppers donated $25. We were thrilled to officially receive their generous donation at the game to finish off the season. Their gift will go directly toward our students and families we serve here on the North Side. Thank you, Koppers, for your love and support!
