Brothers and Sisters,
After speaking with Pastor Mulder and other men in the church, I believe that it would be wise to cancel our normally scheduled Lord's Day worship service at Calvary Baptist Phillipsburg tomorrow. The snow/ice as well as the extraordinary cold temperatures make traveling very hazardous, especially for those who live a greater distance from Phillipsburg. But just because we are not meeting together as a church family tomorrow doesn't mean that tomorrow is not a HOLY day. IT IS STILL THE LORD'S DAY! Do that which is absolutely necessary (care for your livestock), but DO NOT NEGLECT THE WORSHIP OF CHRIST in your home. I have attached the worship bulletin that will be reused for next week (1/21/2024). I suggest using the bulletin to guide your time of family worship tomorrow morning. Fathers, take the lead - call your family to worship from Psalm 100 - sing praises unto God - lead them through the Confession of Sin and give the Assurance of the Pardon from Sin from the Word - lead them in the reading and explanation of the 1689 2LBCF and the Baptist Catechism Question - read through the sermon text (Acts 2:42-47) together. Do not neglect the worship of the Lord!
Lord willing, as things unthaw this week, we will resume our regularly scheduled services on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. Also remember that our 4th Quarter Membership Meeting is scheduled for next Sunday afternoon immediately following the fellowship meal (around 1:30 pm).
Church Family, stay safe and warm and rejoice in Christ! I hope to see you all again this coming week.
If you have any questions or concerns that need to be addressed in the membership meeting, please let me know.
Grace and peace in Christ,
Alex S. Parks
