We had a great day of worship and cultural learning today. We started our day by traveling to Zuni Pueblo to worship at a church on the Zuni reservation. While most of the service was in English, there were a few prayers and readings done in the Zuni language.
After church we had the privilege of meeting with the principal of a Christian mission school next door to the church. He shared their mission of reaching the community with the Gospel through incorporating Christ into all that they teach. But he was also able to give us great insight into the cultural and religious practices of the Zuni.
From there we headed to El Morro National Monument, where we had a picnic lunch and then took on a 2-mile hike to the top of the El Morro bluff where we saw some of the remains of the adobe dwellings in the area. Along the way were many inscriptions and petroglyphs from ancient tribes and early travelers through the area.
Tomorrow it’s back to work on the roof! Thanks for praying as we serve this community, and as we learn about the culture and what it means to point to Jesus in this region!
