CCD Catechists Celebrations ✝️

Throughout the next few weeks and during the registration season, we will be celebrating our wonderful CCD staff and all that they have to offer! Today we celebrate Ms. Teresa Legarreta, who will be entering her third year in our CCD program and her second year teaching Level 5.

A Message from Teresa…

“My name is Teresa Legarreta. My husband, Carlos, and I have been married since 1988, and we are blessed with five children, three daughters and two sons, who are all grown. Family and the Catholic faith have always been a very important part of my life.

My own faith journey began at a young age. I made my First Holy Communion at St. Peter’s Basilica and attended Catholic school. Faith has continued through the generations of my family, and I have always loved sharing that faith with others.

Education has also been a major part of my life. I graduated from Temple University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science as a teacher, earned my ESL certificate in 2003, and later received my Master’s as a Reading Specialist from Holy Family University in 2017.

I have been a part of the St. Dominic community for many years, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve as a catechist. I truly love teaching our children about God and helping them continue to grow in their Catholic faith.

Favorite Saint: St. Michael the Archangel because, through God, he protects us from evil and is a guardian of souls. I also have a special love and devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary and her prayers for us each day. ✝️🙏

I am looking forward to another wonderful year with our St. Dominic CCD students and families!”

A Message from Barb...

"My name is Barbara McGuckin, I have been a parishioner of St. Dominic for 38 years. I am married to Brian, a lifelong parishioner, and we are blessed with 4 children and 14 grandchildren.
I am entering my fourth year as a CCD catechist at St. Dominic. My goal is to help children grow in their love of Jesus, understand scripture, and build a strong foundation in the Catholic faith. I always tell them “God loves you!” 😃
I look forward to partnering with parents and guiding the children of St. Dominic on their faith journey this year.

Fun fact: My husband and I recently went on pilgrimage to Italy in May 2026. It was a beautiful experience!

Favorite Saint: St. Thérèse of Lisieux because of her childlike love, trust, and mercy of God."

A Message from Colette...
"I would like to introduce myself; my name is Colette McCaffrey. I have been a member of St.
Dominic Parish my whole life. I went to grade school here at St. Dominic's, St. Hubert's High
School for Girls and I am a graduate of LaSalle University. I have 2 Adult children both attended St. Dominic's school also.
I would like to share this story with you why I became a CCD teacher. I had been seriously ill for a long time, and I prayed daily to St. John Neuman and St. Padre Pio to intercede on my behalf so I could get better. I received an answer to my prayers. I was and am so grateful for the gift of my health. I prayed to God to lead me where he wanted me to serve him.
Another answer to my prayers! He gave me a nudge and guess what? He led me to become an anne CCD teacher. Last year was my 4th year teaching in CCD. I have taught Grade 3, and previously taught Grade
6. The children are great, and they are eager to learn about God and his wonderful awesomeness. Look forward to seeing the students in the Fall. I pray for all of them and the teachers in hope
that our new CCD School year is filled with many blessings and that we all get to know Our God a little better."
