🔥 WE ARE THE HABITATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT! 🔥
Before the New Covenant and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit did not permanently indwell every believer as He does today. Under the Old Covenant, the Spirit came upon and empowered specific people for specific purposes.
Jesus Christ was uniquely and perfectly indwelt by the Holy Spirit, without measure, and lived in the fullness of the Spirit (John 1:32–33; John 3:34).
But Jesus came to pay the price for our redemption, die for our sins, rise again, and ascend to the Father so that the Holy Spirit could come to indwell every believer permanently.
Jesus said:
📖 “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever.” — John 14:16
He further declared:
📖 “He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” — John 14:17
After His resurrection and ascension, this promise was fulfilled at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the believers (Acts 2:1–4).
Now, every person who belongs to Christ is a temple and habitation of the Holy Spirit:
📖 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” — 1 Corinthians 3:16
📖 “Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19
God no longer merely visits His people—He lives in them!
The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us (Romans 8:11). We have been sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13–14), and through Him we have access to the very presence of God.
🔥 Christ paid the price so that we could become God’s dwelling place!
We are not trying to get God to come down to us. God has come to live in us by His Spirit!
Therefore, let us recognize, honor, and yield to the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. We are His habitation, His temple, and His witnesses on the earth.
