Today was a beautiful and bittersweet day at Simpsonwood UMC as we said goodbye to our beloved pastors, the Revs. Dave and Susan Allen Grady.

Since arriving in 2021 as our senior co-pastors, Dave and Susan have led our church with faith, compassion, wisdom, and a genuine love for this congregation and community. During worship, they shared memories from their time at Simpsonwood by interviewing one another, reflecting on the people, ministries, and moments that have made these past five years so meaningful.

We also had the joy of commissioning our Youth Mission Team as they departed for the Hinton Center in Hayesville, North Carolina. We send them with our prayers and blessings as they spend the week serving others and sharing Christ’s love in tangible ways.

Another special moment came as Elena Mitchell, M.Div., our Director of Children’s Ministry and recent Emory graduate, received her first clergy robe. We are excited to celebrate this milestone and look forward to welcoming Elena into her new role as Associate Pastor this July.

Perhaps the most moving part of the day came after worship at the farewell reception for Dave and Susan. A long line stretched through the Family Life Center as friends, staff, and members waited patiently to share hugs, stories, gratitude, and heartfelt goodbyes. The outpouring of love was a testament to the countless lives they have touched during their time here.

While we are excited for the next chapters in their ministry, their presence, leadership, and friendship will be deeply missed. We send them forth with our love, prayers, and gratitude, knowing that Simpsonwood has been forever blessed by their time among us.

Five years ago, God richly blessed Simpsonwood UMC with the appointment of the Revs. Susan and Dave Allen Grady. Through their faithful leadership, compassionate hearts, and unwavering dedication, they have touched countless lives within our church and throughout the community.

As their time with us comes to a close, we invite you to join us in celebrating and thanking them for their extraordinary ministry and service.

Please join us for a Farewell Reception honoring the Revs. Allen Grady on May 31 in the FLC Lobby immediately following the Sanctuary worship service. Together, we’ll share memories, gratitude, and heartfelt goodbyes as we celebrate these beloved pastors and the incredible impact they’ve made on Simpsonwood.

We are so excited to get this summer started with a super fun outing! If you're in town this holiday weekend, make sure to join us! We are going to JUMP into an awesome Simpsonwood UMC Youth Summer all together this year at SkyZone Roswell!

Meet us at Sky Zone in Roswell at 5:30 PM this Sunday, May 24, for a jump-tastic time! Pick up your student from Sky Zone at 7:30 PM. (Carpooling is encouraged).

Cost is $30/person for 2 hours of jumping. Bring extra $$ for snacks and drinks! Invite all your friends for a great afternoon!!

Sunday’s Reconsecration Service at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church was such a special morning as we gathered together in our newly refreshed sanctuary for the very first time! The updated space is absolutely beautiful — bright, welcoming, and filled with warmth and natural light. It truly feels like a place of hope, renewal, and inspiration for our church family.

The sanctuary was full as we celebrated through worship, prayer, and incredible music from our amazing Chancel Choir. Under David’s direction, the choir performed powerful music by Handel and Beethoven, accompanied by a fantastic string octet and timpani. And thanks to the new sound system, every note filled the sanctuary beautifully!

From the meaningful worship to the excitement of being together in this renewed space, the entire morning was filled with joy and gratitude. We can’t wait to continue making memories here for years to come!

Congratulations to our own Elena Mitchell, M.Div., on her graduation from Emory! She has blessed all of us at Simpsonwood UMC in her role as Children's Ministry director, and we're so excited to see what else God has in store for her!
