Sixteen years ago, the North and South Georgia United Methodist Foundations merged to create one Foundation dedicated to serving Methodists across Georgia. Now, with the formation of the Georgia United Methodist Conference, we're reminded of the power of unity in strengthening ministry and mission. The Foundation is honored to continue serving the Conference, its churches, clergy, staff, and laity. Well done, good and faithful servants! 👏

Tonight, the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference made it official. With a unanimous vote, delegates approved the resolution that would unite the two conferences. Conference Lay Leaders Kim Powell and Scott Cleaveland are pictured here with Bishop Dease. What happens now?

On Saturday, September 26, at 10 a.m. Bishop Robin Dease has called a special meeting, the Georgia Unifying Conference: Working Together to Reach 8 Million Georgians. It will be a hybrid event that will take place at The United Methodist Center in Duluth and online. Registration will open later this month.

Then, on January 1, 2027, the Georgia United Methodist Conference will launch. We are grateful for the work of Bishop Dease, Rev. Dr. Rodrigo Cruz, and the hundreds of United Methodists across Georgia who served on a task force to make this vision a reality.

The Foundation's Board of Trustees is excited to share several key leadership updates! CFO & Treasurer Carol Johnston has been elected Interim President & CEO of the Foundation as of July 1. In one of her first leadership milestones, Carol welcomed Mike Miller as Director of Lending, bringing over 40 years of commercial lending experience to guide our church loan programs. In March 2026, Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church celebrated its 100th anniversary. At the Georgia United Methodist Foundation, we have had the distinct privilege of partnering with Haygood over multiple decades. To honor this centennial, the Foundation spoke with Haygood’s Senior Pastor, Rev. Will Zant who shared his reflections on Haygood’s culture, the pivotal moments in their shared history with the Foundation, and how long-term financial stewardship is actively fueling their future.

This past week, Regional VP Rev. Doreen Smalls ignited sparks of hope at the South Georgia Annual Conference in Macon & lifted spirits in worship at Hope UMC, located at Open Door Community House in Columbus. As we embark on the extraordinary journey of One Georgia and the dawn of Hope UMC, which just opened its doors in 2025, we give thanks for the boundless possibilities unfolding by God's grace! 🙏
