Pastor Joe Tarkon taught on what it actually takes to stay
rooted in the Word.

A fruit does not hang in mid air, he said. There is a root
under it, and if we want the fruit of the Spirit to keep
showing up in our lives, the Word has to go down that deep.

Reverence first,
because God looks to the one who trembles at His word. Then
diligence, the way the Bereans searched the scriptures every
day. And confidence, because the blood of Jesus did not
cleanse us to put us at the back of the line.

He also went back to Esau, who knew exactly what his
birthright was worth and traded it for one bowl of stew.
Informed, but never transformed.

To hold on to anger or choose forgiveness.
To remain bitter or walk in love.
To be greedy or learn to give.
To rebel against God or submit to Him.
To be prideful or choose humility.

But the deeper question is: Who are you? What is your identity?

In Christ, our identity is not defined by our failures, our mistakes, or our past. We are called to live from the truth of who we are in Him.

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1

Choose Christ. Choose love. Choose forgiveness. Choose humility.

“WHAT YOU FEED YOUR MIND”

Trouble was never optional. Nobody gets a life without a hard
season, a bad report, or a bill that will not move.

What is optional is what we have already put inside us before it
arrives. A mind that has been fed the Word has somewhere to put
the trouble. A mind that has not will build fear out of the
same situation and believe every bit of it.

Job and his wife lost the same children on the same day. He
worshipped. She told him to curse God and die. The day was
identical. They were not.

None of this grows in an emergency. It grows in what we read on
our own, out loud, on the ordinary days when nothing is wrong.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

There’s something far more lasting than a new pair of shoes, the latest phone, or the nicest dress and that’s the state of our hearts and our walk with God.

Trends fade, gadgets become outdated, and closets fill up with things we thought we needed, but none of that brings the peace and purpose that comes from putting God first.

It’s easy to get caught up in chasing what looks good on the outside, but true fulfillment comes from what we build on the inside our faith, our character, and our relationship with Him.

When we get our priorities right, everything else falls into place.
