South O'Brien School Backpack for Kids Project
The Backpack for Kids Project has provided food to many children who have food insecurities over the weekends and long holidays. Donations have come from area businesses, organizations, churches, and individuals. Starting in 2018-2019, in addition to food, we would like to provide emergency new clothing, bedding, and school supplies throughout the year to PreK-12 grades. Your continued donations of money will help provide for those needs. Checks may be made out to South O’Brien Community School with Backpack 4 Kids in the memo. Food donations are still accepted and are greatly appreciated. Monetary and food donations can be dropped off at the Superintendent’s office in Paullina or the Elementary Principal’s office in Primghar. Please, no donated clothing or bedding as we do not have space for it. We will purchase as needed. 712-949-3487

Congress is finally asking the question Friends have raised for decades: why do we hand the Pentagon more money every year while it fails audit after audit and families lose access to health care, housing, and food assistance?

We must keep up the pressure. Congressional leaders are trying to bring the bill back without changing the amounts funding the pentagon or the Iran war.

Your senators and representative need to hear from you now: Reject the $1.15 trillion Pentagon budget, refuse to fund an unauthorized war, and invest in the true sources of security — diplomacy, peacebuilding, and thriving communities.

Enough is enough. The Trump admin. is pushing for yet another massive 📈in funding for weapons and war, all while gutting programs that actually help people survive and thrive.

On top of a massive $1.15 TRILLION Pentagon budget request, the administration is pushing for billions more to continue the illegal, immoral, disastrous war on Iran.

Thankfully, some in Congress are pushing back. But we need to keep building pressure to tell our lawmakers to put our needs > endless money for war.

Rachel House History -the home of Rachel Henderson Hodgin
In 1972, when Highway 59 was resurfaced, the new right-of-way was wider than the old, so Rachel Hodgin’s house had to be relocated. Rachel received a newly constructed house set back from the highway to the new specifications.
Rachel remained there until her death in 1983. The house and land were donated to Paullina Friends Meeting. It has been used as a guest house for over 40 plus years for visitors from all over the country. We greatly appreciate this gift and the lovely place for Friends/friends and family to stay. After much discussion it was decided to move the house to Primghar where it will become a lovely home for a local resident.
Some of Rachel Henderson Hodgin's life from Pam Wallace's research and her book follows.
