This past Saturday, we had the joy of celebrating our Patronal Festivity together as a parish community.

We sincerely thank everyone who attended and helped make this celebration a beautiful and meaningful occasion. We are grateful for your presence, support, and continued commitment to our parish.

🌟 BLESSED MICHAEL McGIVNEY | BEATO MICHAEL McGIVNEY🌟

🙏 A Story of Faith, Charity, and Service

Blessed Michael J. McGivney was the son of an Irish immigrant family in Connecticut. From a young age, he experienced hardship and understood the importance of family, faith, and helping others.

Ordained a priest in 1877, Fr. McGivney served at St. Mary’s Parish in New Haven, where he dedicated himself to his parishioners and community. Seeing the struggles of widows, orphans, immigrants, and families facing poverty, he believed Catholic men could come together to support one another.

In 1882, he founded the Knights of Columbus, built on the principles of 'Charity, Unity, and Fraternity', with a mission to protect and assist families in times of need.

Fr. McGivney died in 1890 from pneumonia. He was beatified in 2020, recognized for his deep faith and dedication to serving God, the Church, families, and the community.

🙏 Una Historia de Fe, Caridad y Servicio

El Beato Michael J. McGivney nació en Connecticut, hijo de una familia de inmigrantes irlandeses. Desde muy joven conoció las dificultades de la vida y comprendió la importancia de la familia, la fe y la ayuda al prójimo.

Fue ordenado sacerdote en 1877 y sirvió en la parroquia de St. Mary’s en New Haven, dedicándose profundamente a su comunidad. Al ver las dificultades de viudas, huérfanos, inmigrantes y familias necesitadas, comprendió la importancia de que los hombres católicos se unieran para apoyarse mutuamente.

En 1882, fundó los Caballeros de Colón, inspirados en los principios de 'Caridad, Unidad y Fraternidad', con el propósito de ayudar y proteger a las familias en momentos de necesidad.

El Padre McGivney falleció en 1890 a causa de una neumonía. Fue beatificado en 2020 por su profunda fe y su dedicación al servicio de Dios, la Iglesia, las familias y la comunidad.

🇨🇴🙏 Oremos por Colombia | Let Us Pray for Colombia 🙏🇨🇴

Querida comunidad parroquial,

Hoy queremos unir nuestros corazones y nuestras oraciones por nuestros hermanos y hermanas en **Colombia**, quienes han sido afectados por el reciente terremoto.

En momentos de miedo, incertidumbre y dolor, recordemos que "no estamos solos". Como comunidad de fe, elevemos nuestras oraciones a Dios por todas las familias que han sido afectadas, por quienes han perdido sus hogares, por los heridos y por todos aquellos que están viviendo momentos de angustia.

🙏 Pidamos al Señor que les conceda fortaleza, protección, consuelo y esperanza.
Pidamos también por los trabajadores de emergencia y por todos aquellos que están ayudando a las comunidades afectadas.

Que nuestra oración sea un abrazo para Colombia. 💛💙❤️

Señor, protege a Colombia y a su pueblo. Sostén a quienes sufren y llénalos de tu paz. Amén.

🌿 **Saint Clare of Assisi – A Life of Faith and Courage** 🌿

Saint Clare of Assisi was a close friend and spiritual companion of Saint Francis of Assisi. At just 18 years old, she courageously chose to dedicate her life completely to Jesus Christ rather than marry.

She embraced a life of poverty, prayer, simplicity, and service, becoming the founder and abbess of the Poor Ladies, later known as the **Poor Clares**. Clare remained faithful to the ideal of living the Gospel, even when others—including the pope—encouraged her to change her commitment to poverty.

Though she suffered serious illness for many years and rarely left the convent of San Damiano, her wisdom and holiness inspired popes, bishops, cardinals, and countless others.

One of the most beautiful stories about Saint Clare tells how, when the convent was threatened by invading soldiers, she prayed before the Blessed Sacrament and placed her trust completely in Jesus. She then encouraged her sisters:

**“Don’t be afraid. Trust in Jesus.”**

Saint Clare teaches us that true strength comes from faith, prayer, humility, and complete trust in God. 🙏💛

🌿 **Santa Clara de Asís – Una vida de fe y valentía** 🌿

Santa Clara de Asís fue una gran amiga y compañera espiritual de San Francisco de Asís. A los 18 años, tuvo el valor de dedicar completamente su vida a Jesucristo en lugar de casarse.

Abrazó una vida de pobreza, oración, sencillez y servicio, y se convirtió en fundadora y abadesa de las Damas Pobres, conocidas posteriormente como las **Clarisas**. Clara permaneció fiel al ideal de vivir el Evangelio, incluso cuando otros —incluido el Papa— le pidieron que suavizara su compromiso con la pobreza.

Aunque sufrió una grave enfermedad durante muchos años y casi nunca salió del convento de San Damián, su sabiduría y santidad inspiraron a papas, obispos, cardenales y a muchas otras personas.

Una de las historias más hermosas de Santa Clara cuenta que, cuando el convento fue amenazado por soldados invasores, ella oró ante el Santísimo Sacramento y puso toda su confianza en Jesús. Después animó a sus hermanas:

**“No tengan miedo. Confíen en Jesús.”**

Santa Clara nos enseña que la verdadera fortaleza nace de la fe, la oración, la humildad y la confianza total en Dios. 🙏💛

**🌟 SAINT LAWRENCE / SAN LORENZO 🌟**

Saint Lawrence was a Roman deacon who served under Pope Saint Sixtus II during a time of persecution against Christians. He was responsible for the Church’s material goods and for helping the poor.

When the Roman prefect demanded the Church’s treasures, Saint Lawrence gave the Church’s money and possessions to the poor, widows, and orphans. When the prefect asked him to show the treasures of the Church, Lawrence presented the people he had gathered and said:

**“These are the treasure of the Church.”**

The prefect became furious and ordered Lawrence to be tortured and killed on a gridiron. Even in the midst of suffering, Lawrence remained faithful, courageous, and joyful.

Saint Lawrence reminds us that the greatest treasure of the Church is not gold or material possessions, but **people, especially those who are poor, vulnerable, and in need.**

San Lorenzo fue un diácono romano que sirvió bajo el Papa San Sixto II durante un tiempo de persecución contra los cristianos. Era responsable de los bienes materiales de la Iglesia y de ayudar a los pobres.

Cuando el prefecto de Roma exigió los tesoros de la Iglesia, San Lorenzo entregó el dinero y los bienes de la Iglesia a los pobres, viudas y huérfanos. Cuando el prefecto le pidió que mostrara los tesoros de la Iglesia, Lorenzo presentó a las personas que había reunido y dijo:

**“Estos son los tesoros de la Iglesia.”**

El prefecto se enfureció y ordenó que Lorenzo fuera torturado y martirizado sobre una parrilla. A pesar de su sufrimiento, Lorenzo permaneció fiel, valiente y lleno de alegría.

San Lorenzo nos recuerda que el mayor tesoro de la Iglesia no es el oro ni las posesiones materiales, sino **las personas, especialmente los pobres, vulnerables y necesitados.**
