Thursday’s Bible verse is taken from Job 42:10 (NIV) - “After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.”

Job’s story doesn’t stop when suffering begins. By chapter 42, Job has been humbled. His friends have been rebuked. And his heart has been turned outward once again toward prayer.

This morning's Bible verse is taken from Job 1:21 - “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Job says these words after losing everything, yet he doesn’t try to diminish the tragedy or lessen his mourning. He declares what is real: we come into this world with nothing, and we’ll leave it the same.

This Tuesday, we begin a review of some of the more popular Scripture verses. Our Bible verse today is taken from Job 19:25 - “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.”

This Monday's Bible verse is taken from Zephaniah 3:17 - “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

Our brains jump quickly to our lists, worries, and leftover junk from last week when we think about the upcoming week. We try to tackle each Monday armed for battle with our version of “law”–what we need to do, how we need to perform, and where we will fall short.

Zephaniah 3:17 redirects our focus entirely away from us, our performance, and roots us beautifully in the Gospel.

Today's Bible verse is taken from Acts 5:30 - Peter said, “The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.”

During the season of Pentecost, the Church rejoices that the risen Christ continues His work through the Holy Spirit. In Acts 5, Peter stands before the very authorities who had opposed Jesus and boldly proclaims the heart of the Gospel. He does not soften the truth: humanity’s sin put Christ on the cross. Yet he immediately declares the greater truth: God raised Him from the dead.

It's Friday, and our Bible verse is taken from Daniel 1:12 - “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink.”

Go ahead. Eat bacon. I won’t tell.

I will not be joining you as you chomp down your BLT.

However, being vegan isn’t weird.

A diet restricted to plants, with no meat, fish, or dairy products. It’s not some hipster craze.

Daniel and his friends found themselves living far from home in a pagan country. Everywhere they turned, there were pressures to compromise: different customs, different education, different food, powerful influencers. Daniel knew that loyalty to God was more important than assimilation into Babylonian culture.

Today's Bible verse is taken from Romans 12:15 - “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”

Yesterday, we meditated on Jesus’s call to us as the “salt of the earth”. Today, we’re going to unpack that thought just a little bit more.

A true indicator of the Christian life is rarely observed in passionate speeches or pious public pronouncements. It is seen instead in the quiet act of entering into the joys and sorrows of another.

This Wednesday's Bible verse is taken from Matthew 5:13 - Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”

Jesus calls us “salt.” Think about how salt works—it’s quiet. It preserves, it adds flavor, and it naturally brings out the best in whatever it touches. Back in Jesus’ day, salt was incredibly valuable precisely because it served people in these simple, essential ways. That context changes how we look at His words when He calls His followers “the salt of the earth.”

Notice that Jesus doesn’t say, “Try hard to become salt.” He simply says, “You are.”

This Tuesday's Bible verse is taken from Romans 12:21 - “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

It doesn’t take much to see evil at work in the world. Harsh words, bitterness, division, revenge, and selfishness seem to come naturally to sinful hearts. And if we’re honest, we often feel tempted to answer hurt with hurt.

But Saint Paul points Christians in another direction.
