Calvary United Protestant Church Welcome to Calvary United Protestant Church! We are located at 425 Orchard Drive in Park Forest, IL Our faith compels us to work for justice and to seek mercy.

We are a Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation of about 75 people. It's because we are so biblically focused that we are theologically progressive. None of us have it all figured out so we join together to wrestle with the hard questions and welcome all people no matter where they are in their faith journeys. We seek to deepen our spiritual practices and go into the world as agents of change. Our

program priorities revolve around intentional evolution toward where God is calling the church today and how we show God's love to our neighbors in Park Forest, the south suburbs and the world. We work for radical inclusion of the LGBTQ community, to dismantle systems of racism and to seek shalom justice.

Thank you again for all that attended today's Community Dinners and all our dinners in 2026 at Calvary United Protestant Church. Each year we plan meals throughout the summer for anyone regardless of location, s*x, race, etc. When we say it is available to all...it's available to everyone. This year has been a bit different with the storms we have endured throughout the summer. But we are there rain or shine each week.

Each year we apply for grants via our Presbyterian council to get funds to buy food, pay our teen staff, supplies and more. It takes a team to pull this off every year. This year we have served burgers, hot dogs, gumbo, sub sandwiches, pizza, pulled pork sandwiches, Italian Beef, pasta and more.

We would like thank our Volunteer Mission Committee at Calvary that consist of Linda Hill , Jeff Hill, Julie Townsend, Larry Schwarberg,Vernice Johnson-Warren, David & Mary Ann Wenzelman.

Most importantly we would like to thank our teen staff workers who set up, tear down and do the things that us old people can't do. And finally, Mildred who wraps every take out item every week.

It's been a rough 3 weeks in the South Suburban area. Many of us have experienced so much loss --- electricity, sleep, home damage and more. And for many of us we are still going through the waiting process. Several communities have large companies and not the villages offering support including Comed, local grocery stores, Red Cross and more. But our local community has stepped up while our village continues to clear the streets.

Calvary UP church and several local churches are jumping in where they can with food, supplies, charging areas, etc. Take a few minutes and check threads in various groups for assistance options.

Call your county 211 numbers for assistance (Cook County and Will County). It's important so they will know that we need help in the Park Forest area and beyond.

Community Dinners continue at Calvary UP Church from 4:30 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, August 15th. We will have hotdogs 🌭 on the menu tomorrow so we can feed more people. But we will have so much more! Stop by. We are there rain or shine! Dine in or take to go.
