Jesus is calling His followers to live with quiet obedience, not prideful performance.

In Matthew 6:1-8, Jesus reminds us that our audience determines our reward, giving reflects compassion, not reputation and that prayer is a personal act, not a public stage.

In a world that constantly pushes us to be seen, recognized and applauded, Jesus calls us to a real relationship with our Father, who sees what is done in secret and rewards faithfulness.

This week, try doing something kind, generous or helpful that no one notices, and don’t tell anyone about it. Let it be an act of worship between you and God.

Talk about it as a family:
- Where do you seek the approval or applause of others? How can you redirect your motives to God first?
- How can you cultivate a rhythm of giving to others without being seen or seeking something in return?
- How can your prayer life look different when you remember that God already knows what you need?

Are you tired of living for the approval of others? Measuring your worth by who noticed and who didn't? Join us this Sunday as we explore Matthew 6:1–8, where Jesus invites us out of the exhausting performance and into something far better: a sincere, unhurried devotion that doesn't need a crowd, because it is offered to a Father who is already watching, already present and already pleased to call you His own.

We’re so thankful to be part of something happening in our community this summer. ❤️

FOR Bay County is partnering with Waller Elementary and several incredible local churches to help provide summer food assistance for students and families in need while school is out.

This is the Waller Community Care Collective, and we’re honored to serve alongside these amazing partners:
• Waller Elementary
• Bayou George Christian Church
• First Baptist Church of Fountain
• Bear Creek Assembly of God
• Fountain Victory Tabernacle
• Zion Church
• Youngstown First Baptist Church

What a beautiful picture of the body of Christ coming together to love, serve and care for our community.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

Thanks to everyone who is giving, praying and serving to make this possible.

The world says fight back, but Jesus is calling His followers to respond to injustice creatively and redemptively.

“Turn the other cheek” isn’t weakness or passivity. Jesus calls us to courageous, creative, redemptive love that refuses to retaliate and instead responds with grace and kindness.

Talk about it as a family this week:
- What’s your first instinct when someone hurts you or treats you unfairly - fight back, shut down or something else?
- Has anyone ever done something unexpectedly kind to you after you treated them badly? What happened?
- Which of Jesus’ three examples is hardest to imagine actually doing - turning the cheek, giving the coat or going the extra mile? Why?
- Is there a situation in your life right now where someone has wronged you and you’ve been tempted to “resist in kind”? What might a creative, nonviolent response look like?

We’ve all heard “turn the other cheek,” but what does Jesus actually mean? For too long, this passage has been misread as a call to passive surrender, even used to keep vulnerable people trapped in harm’s way. In Sunday’s message, we take a closer look at one of the most misunderstood teachings in the Sermon on the Mount, starting with the ancient law of “an eye for an eye,” a principle never meant to authorize revenge, but to limit escalation; and discovering that Jesus isn’t canceling it, he’s radically deepening it.
