Jesus is calling His followers to live with quiet obedience, not prideful performance.
In Matthew 6:1-8, Jesus reminds us that our audience determines our reward, giving reflects compassion, not reputation and that prayer is a personal act, not a public stage.
In a world that constantly pushes us to be seen, recognized and applauded, Jesus calls us to a real relationship with our Father, who sees what is done in secret and rewards faithfulness.
This week, try doing something kind, generous or helpful that no one notices, and don’t tell anyone about it. Let it be an act of worship between you and God.
Talk about it as a family:
- Where do you seek the approval or applause of others? How can you redirect your motives to God first?
- How can you cultivate a rhythm of giving to others without being seen or seeking something in return?
- How can your prayer life look different when you remember that God already knows what you need?
