We were honored to host former hostage Omer Shem Tov at Stanford’s CEMEX Auditorium, where hundreds of students gathered to hear him share his story of surviving 505 days in Hamas captivity.

It was one of the most powerful and moving moments our campus has experienced this year!!

The Moral Collapse at Stanford

By Rabbi Dov Greenberg
Chabad at Stanford

On October 7 — the two-year anniversary of the Hamas massacre that killed 1,200 innocent people, the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust — Stanford Students for Justice in Palestine will hold an event “in honor of our martyrs.”

Martyrs?

These were men who butchered families in their homes, who r***d and mutilated women, who burned children alive.

To call them martyrs is not politics.

It is moral dementia.

Long before this provocation, Stanford’s Jewish community had reserved White Plaza for a vigil — a solemn remembrance for the dead and a prayer for the hostages still in captivity.

Only afterward did SJP choose the same place, the same hour, to glorify those who caused the very suffering being mourned.

It is the oldest antisemitic ritual in modern disguise: to persecute the Jew and then mock his pain.

Universities were once sanctuaries of reason and moral clarity.

Now their silence in the face of barbarism masquerading as activism reveals something darker: cowardice dressed as neutrality.

No Jewish group has ever intruded on another people’s memorial.

Yet this inversion of decency proceeds without censure.

When murderers are honored and victims are mocked, a university does not need an ethics department.

It needs a mirror.
