I beg of Thee, my God, make haste to assist me. Holy Father, merciful and just, giver of all good gifts and graces. I honor you through your saints and ask their help in my daily life. Lord, You promised those who ask, would receive; those who seek, would find; those who knock, would have doors opened. That faith would move mountains.

Dear Saint Anthony, by your holy example and apostolic life, you led countless souls to the protection of our Divine Lord. On earth your heart overflowed with Compassion ever so gentle and giving: the poor and helpless your special mission.

The Holy Family Choir from Tulsa, Oklahoma came to visit the Shrine today, Monday, June 1, 2026. They sang at St. Francis de Sales Oratory and at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis over the weekend and on their way home today, they stopped by the Shrine and were given a talk about the Shrine and Br. Bronislaus by Director Mike Scully.

Novena in Honor of Saint Anthony of Padua
June 5th - June 13th

Saint Anthony the Wonder Worker Always Answers! BRING YOUR NEEDS TO HIM. For over 700 years, Saint Anthony has been renowned as the "Saint of Miracles". The Franciscan Brothers, who are charged with the care of the Black Madonna Shrine and Grottos, invite you to join with us and the Shrine staff in offering prayers to Saint Anthony the Miracle Worker! Anthony was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195. As a young man he felt a call to God's Will and dreamed of becoming a Franciscan Missionary. Illness prevented his traveling to North Africa so he traveled to Italy and became a faithful companion of St. Francis of Assisi. He proclaimed the gospel throughout Northern Italy and Southern France, defending the poor, striking out against evil and filling the people's hearts with faith and love.
Anthony passed away in 1231 and was proclaimed a Saint the following year. He is the patron of the poor (Saint Anthony's bread) and is popularly invoked as the finder of lost articles.
He is depicted holding the infant Jesus because of a vision recorded of him.

The Shrine has been blessed with many group visits this Spring. The Women of Mary from St.Joseph Church in Farmington, MO visited the Shrine on May 20, 2026. Joseph Lux the new incoming Director gave an informative talk about the Shrine and a guided tour. Mike Scully outgoing Director gave additional information about the history of the Shrine and the true icon.
