Meet The Team Monday:
First Response Team Leader
Nancy McMorran
After completing her nursing education and training, Nancy McMorran earned a B.S. in Managed Health Care from the University of Minnesota and then attended the Columbia Business School of Executive Education. She describes her career as a “convoluted path.” From ICU and ER nurse to Director of Nurses and Area Administrator, she also served on the Federal ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) Board, and then worked as a Medicare/Medicaid fraud investigator (and later, Director of Health Policy) for the State of Minnesota.
Moving from the medical to the dental insurance industry, she became chief of dental operations at Anthem BCBS, a position she held until retirement. Despite her impressive resume, Nancy says she spent many years pursuing “too much” of things like accolades and wealth. Then, the most important turning point in her life happened in a quiet hotel room while she was on a business trip. “I turned on the TV and heard a sermon full of biblical truth.” Right then and there, she asked Jesus for forgiveness and accepted him into her heart. “My life has changed ever since then,” Nancy notes. “Power and position didn’t matter anymore and I felt peace in my life that had been missing. I had a relationship with Jesus I hadn’t known was possible!”
God opened the door for Nancy and her husband Scott to move to The Villages in 2018. After attending several services at LOCC, Nancy joined an Encore Group, where her “Florida Family” helped her grow in prayer, knowledge of Scripture, and daily Christian living. “They modeled what it means to listen to the Holy Spirit and follow His leading,” she says. The group came alongside Nancy when Scott passed away in 2022; she now serves as Encore co-leader, and in addition, enjoys fellowship through Widows Connect and the Singles and Women’s ministries at LOCC. “When I first came to LOCC,” Nancy says, “Pastor Chris Holck told me that it isn’t right to be a believer and not be in fellowship with others in church, to be involved. It left a deep impression.” Her ministry goals, she adds, are to “serve wherever I am needed and where my skills match and time allows.”
To that end, Nancy currently leads the First Response Team, a group of medical and non-medical personnel trained to assist with first aid or emergencies as needed. She joined the team in 2019. She also volunteers at Lift Disability’s Breakaway Camp; serves as a GriefShare facilitator; tutors in a Salvation Army after-school program; and sits on the board of Christian outreach Grace Unleashed, supporting its mission with a rest and renewal home for those in ministry. Nancy also served with LOCC’s 2025
Cuba GO Team and looks forward to returning there when the next team goes. In her rare moments of leisure, Nancy enjoys painting, knitting, crocheting, and watching happy movies.
