St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church St. Peter of Alcantara Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Owensboro, KY is located in Stanley, KY. The church was founded in 1873.

Mass is at 4:00 on Saturday evenings and 10:00 on Sunday mornings. The first church building of St. Peter of Alcantara in Stanley, KY was constructed in 1873. It was located on what is now Oakford Road. In the teen years of the 1900s, a temporary church was built on the current church site, 81 Church Street. In 1922, the present church was erected. The current church building was completely renova

ted in 1972. At this time, a beautiful wooden raredos was installed. This altar background still stands today. A school existed on the church property beginning in 1952. The school closed due to declining enrollment in 1984. In 2012, this school building was demolished. In 2009, a parish hall and church office was built on the property. Peter Church also has a cemetery located about 3/4 mile from the church on HWY 1554.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Jimmie, Mary H. Keller, and Robert Duney Fulkerson for planting, growing, tending, and picking an entire field of sweet corn just for Carmel Home! 💚

Our residents had such a wonderful time reliving the good old days as they gathered around to shuck the fresh corn. There were plenty of smiles, stories, and memories shared—and, of course, everyone enjoyed the delicious farm-fresh produce! 🌽

We are so grateful for your generosity, hard work, and thoughtfulness. You didn’t just grow corn—you grew memories for our residents to enjoy. ❤️

Congratulations to our parishioner Lisa Clary for receiving the Providing Help, Creating Hope Award for the Western Deanery of Owensboro. We are blessed by all of your time and effort to making the community better.

This prestigious award sheds light on quiet heroes among us, those who transcend beyond the walls of the church to transform the lives of our neighbors. The award is granted to a volunteer who embodies the mission of Catholic Charities, performing charitable actions that best symbolize “faith in action.” Through volunteering, they give of their time, skills, and energy to benefit others or contribute to a cause, without financial compensation.
