The Man of God – Part 3

We cannot be men of God without prayer. A man of prayer is a man of God. A man of God is a man of prayer. One may be The Man of God by title without being a man of prayer, but without prayer, soul-cleansing, sin-convicting, God-revealing prayer, one cannot be a man of God.

Why did Jesus, God Incarnate, who was never out of harmony or communion with His Father, need to spend so much time in prayer? He wanted it! He needed it! It was sweet fellowship with His Heavenly Father. He was strengthened by it. Shall we neglect it?

Book of Revelation - Lesson 11 - Chapter 4 – The Throne Room

The visions of Revelation now begin in earnest. Upon seeing a door standing open in heaven and hearing a trumpet-like voice promising to show him of things which must take place, John is transported to the throne room of God. Where he sees God on His throne. twenty-four elders, seven lamps of fire, a sea of glass like crystal, and four living creatures.

The Man of God – Part 2

God, in all His glory, is pure. He has never been - or ever will be - anything but pure. Pure in his love, his righteousness, his manner and motive.
On the other hand, WE are not pure. In order to be pure, we must have the cleansing of the blood of Christ in salvation and then allow the “washing of the water by the word” to effect daily and continual cleansing in our lives.
TWO THINGS WE WAR AGAINST: The world system, to which we are exposed, and the fallen nature which we must crucify daily, are opposed to us achieving and maintaining the kind of purity necessary to be men of God.
Yet God HAS NOT given us a mandate without means. Every child of God CAN BE pure. We must determine it to be – and make decisions to make it so. The only power that will defeat your pursuit of purity lies within you. You’ll either have it or you’ll decide not to have it. Let’s decide to have it.

How much care has God taken through the years to prepare and preserve His Word to us? Did he superintend over the order of books in their placement? Did he superintend over the chapter and verse divisions? It is likely true that God superintended over things that pertains to His Word.

This message is based upon one set of numbers throughout the N.T. It is something you’ll find interesting.

Evidence suggests chapter divisions were made by Stephen Langton, Archbishop of Canterbury, England, who died in 1228 A.D. Verse divisions were first made by Robert Stephanus/Estienne of Paris in 1551 A.D.

Book of Revelation - Lesson 10 – Chapter 3 – Laodicea

The church of Laodicea is described as lukewarm, for which the Lord threatens to spew them out of His mouth. While claiming to be rich, they are blind to their true condition.

Therefore, the Lord counsels them to buy from Him those things they truly need. His strong words are indicative of His love for them, and the fact that He stands ready to re-enter their hearts if they will open to Him (14-22).

The Man of God - Part 1

The title, Man of God, appears 73 times in the Bible (KJV). The first time it appears is in reference to Moses (Deuteronomy 33:1). The last time it appears is in reference to Timothy, when Paul instructed him on how to be a Man of God – and that was to KNOW the Scriptures which would thoroughly equip him to be a Man of God (2 Timothy 3:17).

For men in any age, the greatest title ever earned by any man is to be known as a Man of God. It’s not beyond any one of us. God would have it to be for every man who comes to faith. The question is, what do we want?

Book of Revelation - Lesson 9 – Chapter 3 – Sardis and Philadelphia

Here are two churches side by side addressed by Christ Jesus, but there’s not much in common between them. One is dead, or about to die, and the other is alive and set to experience great expansion.

The church at Sardis was on life support, with only a few still alive spiritually among them. Members had defiled their garments, and their works were not found perfect before God. The only commendation given was to the few who had not defiled their garments (testimony and life example). Jesus called upon church leadership to recognize this dire diagnosis and strengthen what remained which was ready to die.

Philadelphia was the opposite. Jesus promised to set before them an open door of opportunity, which surely meant expansion. Even though they had only “a little strength” they impressed the right one by impressing God with their commitment to keep His word and not deny His name. They were exhorted to hold their profession firmly so that no one would take their honor or crown from them.
