At Grace, we believe children are part of the family that worships.

Not someday when they are older. Not only when they can sit perfectly still.

They belong now.

Starting this Sunday, we are reserving the back tables in worship for families with children. We’ll have kid-friendly space available, including coloring tablecloths that children can color on during the service.

Our hope is to give kids a way to engage worship in an age-appropriate way, give parents a little more room to help their children participate, and help our whole church practice hospitality together.

A church with children will sometimes sound like children.

That is not a problem.

That is a sign of life.

Grace family, thank you for helping us create a worship space where children are not merely tolerated, but truly welcomed.

And if you are a parent in the Ottumwa area wondering whether your kids would be welcome at Grace, I want you to hear this clearly:

Yes. Bring them.

At opening worship for the 2026 Iowa Annual Conference, we were reminded of a beautiful calling:
All are welcome.

We are called to share the love of God with all.
We are called to be hands of healing and to plant seeds of peace.

That calling matters deeply to us at Grace.
We want to be a church where people experience the welcome of Christ, the healing love of God, and a community that makes room for every person to be seen, loved, and included.

Like a quilt, the church is made beautiful by many different people, stories, gifts, and colors being woven together by grace.

We are still learning.
We are still growing.
We are still becoming.

But this is the kind of church we are seeking to be.
There is room for you here...

Some people have spent years wondering whether there is room for them in the family of God.

In Acts 8, the Holy Spirit sends Philip down a wilderness road because God is already at work in the life of someone the church may not have known how to include.

That is still good news.

You are whole.
You are beloved.
You are not a problem to be solved.
There is room for you, too.
