September is one of the best months for garden produce at the Garden of Hope. Regina Blakeslee and the gardeners and volunteers are still planting vegetables from seed. We had help from our new Hope Volunteers this week, who planted a row of Beaureguard Sugar Snap Peas from Row 7, a Newburgh based seed company founded by local chefs and farmers.
Today, we sent a bountiful harvest of 70 pounds of tomatoes, pole beans, eggplant, scallions, kale, Swiss chard, peppers, basil, parsley, and delicious raspberries to Fred's Pantry. We give thanks to Susan, Cyndi, Ricky, Lucy, Clarke, Liam, and Janet who came out on a hot and humid morning and got an incredible amount of harvesting done. We at Mariandale are grateful to all of our gardeners for their time and commitment, including Regina Blakeslee, the Master.
